[DAWN OF WAR] Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III ANNOUNCED
Like, it is kind of embarrassingly bad how broken the multiplayer meta was after people had 3 days to deconstruct it. Most of the nerfs/buffs are huge, and it's wacky they didn't catch the "everyone picks the best units against structures that also happen to be amazing against tier 1 infantry and rushes the highly prized structure" meta, but this looks good. I hope people will come back -- it was a relatively quick patch, but the internet is fickle.
They also seem to have reduced turret damage in 1v1 to 25% of what it was if you're one of the "it's a moba" people.
Community Update: June 13, 2017
The next update will introduce some highly requested community features, such as Annihilation Mode and buildable defenses!
I did play a game last week after the patch and stuff.
Balance was way better. Tacs have a purpose now. I felt playing SM I had to do a lot more of a mixed army to be as effective early. Swords still rock though.
Is it me or is this game a bit sluggish? It seems like there's a tiny delay between when I issue a command and when the game responds. And my specs are way above recommended.
Input delay is an often cited grievance, I don't personally notice it but you are not alone.
I am pretty excited to see how the added defense mix things up. It feels like a lot of times in 2s and 3s you are left turtling anyway based on gross matchup, will be nice to have another tool to support this.
I'd love to hear any recommendations (positive or negative) people have. I'm a big fan of the Dawn of War series, and I liked Space Marine (though I've only played a small part of it so far). I've got a key for the first Total Warhammer. I have Space Hulk but found it kind of underwhelming.

Deathwing was a bug-riddled mess on release, but my understanding is that they've given it a lot of support since then and it's a pretty solid experience now, as the recent review trend seems to reflect.
Can't go wrong with Blood Bowl 2 either, as long as you don't easily tilt to getting fucked over by cold, uncaring rolls of the die.
It's been quiet here lately and Steam started handing out 50% off coupons. Thoughts after some weeks of DoW 3?
I got about 50 hours out of the game at full price. The campaign wasn't bad. DoWII+Chaos Rising is still the best campaign. Multiplayer was fun but I haven't played since they did the update for just normal RTS maps and such. But it seems like the update was really good.
I think my biggest thing is that it doesn't have Chaos which is the army I play on the table top so I lose interest with the factions in the game.
Something I just asked in the VR thread the other day -- why does everyone end their free weekends and weekend deals on Saturday night or Sunday morning? I work on the weekdays and spend Saturday getting stuff done at home, so Sunday afternoon and evening is when I have time for gaming. No dessert until you finish your vegetables and all that. Surely this isn't some edge case behavior. Is there some regulation that forces everyone's hand, or has it been shown that they lose money if they end these things on Monday morning?
Played around a bit, feels very weird to not have squad retreat buttons. Also, dont really like the cover/grass mechanic, feels like some dev thought it would help pull the DotA / LoL crowds.
Also, not sure if its just an AI thing, but he really didnt care about squad preservation. Ended up killing 600 orcs to the 60 or so lost marines, but the game still felt kinda close.
Will have to try the campaign and relearn these factions.

Did they bother to apply any unit balance to campaign forces? I get that it's extra work, but trying to play through the campaign and having broken/useless units isn't any fun, especially if you're later playing MP and the units may as well be completely different by now with patches.
They did/are doing the same shit with CoH2 and Ardennes Assault. Some balance changes have applied in it, but most don't, meaning the campaign is absolutely broken and unbalanced through and through because they have simply paid no mind to it. Many upgrades you earn are broken and old or they don't apply, etc.
I like Relic a lot, I'm not trying to be shitty, but good lord, if you're going to make a campaign and not support it/break it entirely, why bother making one?
Tried it out so far. Seemed cool / okay but only on second mission so far. I was looking for just a random brawl against the AI, but looks like it unlocked after the first campaign mission.

Any of you played this recently and if so how long did you have to wait for a match? I'm tempted to buy it at 20 bucks because i just really miss DoW but it's got like no players online.

I'm thinking of getting it since I have been playing a bit of DoW2 Retribution lately to lead my farseers to victory.

biggest change is we bumped infantry health 30%. wanted the early game to be less lethal.

Not sure if it's the camera settings or what but yours certainly looks the most "Blood Ravensy"(it's a word, I swear) of the three.
