I have a 1997 Mazda 626 4cyl and I just got it out of the shop because it wouldn't start, well it ran fine that day started up fine but then it started overheating after five min of driving and it won't start unless you give it gas. Anybody know what's wrong

Sounds like it needs to go back to the shop. It could be a number of things. Probably coolant or water pump related, but maybe not. It's really something that needs a mechanic. Especially at that age

Uh, if you're forcing it to start by giving it gas and there's no coolant in or the pump is broken you're destroying the engine. If it's seized up you may be doing damage that can't actually be repaired.

Stop trying to force it to start and get it towed to a shop.
