Why is Chuck so green? He looks like a mouldering corpse.

It's because he's a Satyr. Just look at his leg in panel 2. And those aren't goggles, he files his horns down Hellboy style.

I think it's supposed to be the lighting because they're in a forest? But it does look pretty weird.

    Yes to both.
Though as I read it those are the same question. Matchmaking puts you with randoms.
But, you can also group up with up to 5 friends to join matchmaking, or up to 11 others if you do custom games.

More than one, if not several, yes.

    Did Charles catch scurvy?

I think he's irradiated and glowing. You can see the light reflecting off of Tycho's hand.

Or maybe Charles is green with jealously, because you can't play Overwatch on a Mac. (Though given that he doesn't appear to care about the game, I doubt it)

News page says Robert resigned "a little while ago". Wouldn't surprise me if they're all a bit distracted today...

Aye, common custom in the states says you're supposed to give a 1 week of notice for every 2 years of service.

I have never heard this before.

I've always heard it as 2 weeks. People very frequently call quitting, "giving my two week notice". But is a case of friends working together, so I'm sure that Robert gave them the time he thought they needed, or lacking that whatever he could. Right now is pretty optimal. It's about the biggest time between PAXen you get, and West sales have been handled.

I think Tube said Khoo isn't leaving until July. So I'm sure he's given them plenty of notice.

Putting in "2 week's notice" is really only a thing for non-leadership and lower pay positions. Should you choose to end your employment, you can walk out that day (with exceptions like contracts, etc of course.). But once you get past a certain pay-scale or position in most places of the amount of notice that your employer "prefers" you provide increases. HR usually has guidelines for it.

I would imagine that even if Khoo wasn't friends with them, he would have given much longer notice than two weeks given the nature of his position.

I definitely am not commenting on whatever Robert decided to do.

I still have no idea where you are getting that information as some sort of industry standard. If you want to do it though, great!

Yeah, sorry. it's definitely tangential and not really a "standard" so much as a recommendation. In my particular industry the longer you've been in and the higher your level/etc... the longer notice it's expected for you to give. One organization had someone announce and it was several months before they actually left.

eta: this line of speculation of speculation is rather distasteful, so I'm not going to comment on it further. Sorry.

"Two weeks notice" is actually somewhat different in some positions. It's more like "security will escort you out at the end of the day."

  • TubeTube Registered User admin
Yeah, it depends on the job. Even if you get paid out for the two weeks, if there are security issues you'll leave that day. I've seen that in any job involving developers getting canned.

  • fortyforty Registered User regular
Well, getting canned is also different than the employee deciding to leave and do something else.

  • TubeTube Registered User admin
Oh sure, but also if a Facebook dev decides to leave or whatever they just walk them out of the building. Too much access.

My dad was a CFO for like twenty years, and his retirement notice was about 8 months so that he could oversee the replacement process and train his replacement for about two months. Other companies will have executive officers walk out the doors the same week as notice is given. Each company's process is different dependent on multiple factors and I'm just guessing Robert's notice was long enough for him to take care of all of those.
