    The now defunct OP of "A [Chat] Wherein I express my Geopolitical Anxieties"
    So assuming the British government goes ahead with leaving the EU, I'm really anxious about what happens to Northern Ireland. The border with the republic, currently open, could be closed because the EU wouldn't want non-single market adheres to get in willy nilly. Also, like in Scotland, NI voted to remain in the EU, and while less effectively than Nicola Sturgeon, Martin McGuiness of Sinn Fein called for a poll for reunification with the Republic of Ireland. This doesn't seem likely because Unionists would rather go anywhere than south, but if we remain shackled to England (assuming Scotland eventually breaks away) and cut off from all that EU funding which has done wonders for our infrastructure, I'm afraid the Good Friday Agreement - which could break down as it assumed all parties would remain in the EU, which for 1998 was a reasonable assumption - could break down, and I really don't want to have to live through what my parents did.

    Someone Tallyrand us out of this mess please :(
