So I farmed a bucketload to fix this multitool that has 20+ soots (a slight improvement over the starting one) and apparently you can overload a system by getting too much modules.
(I hope you know to put system upgrades adjacent, so that you will see a coloured border, for better performance).
So I had the Analysis Visor and the Scannor next to each other, and I put a Scanner (S) and Scanner (A) module next to each other, and everything was fine.
Teleported to another Space station, and grabbed (B) and (C) modules. I also saw another Scanner (S) module, so I grabbed that along for experimenting.
Added the B and C versions adjacent, and then thought, I’ll throw the S one in too. This resulted in an overloaded system. I removed the S, and it was still overloaded.
So I guess a system can have a maximum of 5 “squares”, but I do think that you can have multiple S-upgrades, for max gains.
Also: if you are drowning in nanites, but not in money to buy those technology modules at 60k each, just buy C upgrade systems (for the multitool, this I tested) and install and dismantle them for 25 chromatice material and 1 tecnology module. This way you trade in 70 nanites for a thing that usually costs 60k and some of the materials that are always needed.
Oh yes, I had a freighter mission which gave me 110+ blue metal, that could be refined 1:4 chromatic materials, so that was almost 500 chromatic material!
I'm guessing you've checked the previous saves to see if one was far back enough to reload? I think the game keeps the last three or something in one of the menus somewhere.
No such luck. I only had two saves, a manual and an auto. The autosave was a newer one after all the death and destruction, and the manual was an earlier one when I was on an unpleasant rocky planet at an abandoned building surrounded by alien eggs. I guess I probably would have kept a fair amount of inventory but I didn't really want to take too much time checking things out, out of fear that the autosave would be overwritten.
It's fine though. The planet itself is still fantastic, I fixed my ship, and now I've found another nice beach spot. Currently in the process of building things for a base. And then I'm going to take all the pictures.
woah i found an S-class analysis visor upgrade in the station after my first jump. +8007% rewards to flora analysis and +6987% to fauna, and a +34% scan radius to boot
time to become a professional nature photographer.
From everything I've been reading it sounds like I lucked out with my starting system. First planet was a bit hot, but nothing I couldn't deal with. Second planet was a beautiful ringed world with huge plateaus sticking up almost through the clouds, with no environmental hazards at all. This is where I put my first space shack.
Just finally came back after a few jumps, and acquiring a freighter, to finally build a teleporter.
These giant spike jaguars are constantly circling my base, attacking any other creature that comes close...except me. We have some kind of an unspoken agreement.

:O I haven't found any analysis visor upgrades!! I want that real bad!!
And thanks for the tip @Corporal Carl I've been wondering about an easier way to get tech modules for a long time now, that saves me so much time
I loaded a save from 2016. All of my emirl is gone. I still have a ton of Carbon
And 3.7 million units. Not sure if that’s good or not.
Unless you are really dedicated to that save I would start over. The new tutorial really teaches you a lot about the game that you may not know if it has been that long.

the save I was playing for the past few days crashes on startup.
So I loaded my old save where I had a decent ship and a lot of the stuff unlocked.
Unfortunately I have a mission to rebuild my old base that I'll probably never be able to complete and I don't think I'm able to get the blueprint scanner?
Also I rescued another freighter which let me buy it but instead of giving me the option to transfer junk it just wiped my old cargo hold. Which is... annoying.

There’s definitely changes - I can’t just use my default mining laser. I need to upgrade to a laser attached to an angry sea bass or some such.
I’ll probably keep this save going I’m in an uncharted area of fun. Already upgraded my ship.

I'm so glad Stargates are a thing in this game (and that your ship magically follows you). I made sure to make one on the paradise planet I found as my second planet so I could always return to it. It's very comforting.

You know the traders that allow you to trade nanites for blueprints on stations?
Left = exosuit, middle = spaceship, right = multitool blueprints?
Well, if you go to the second option of buying upgrade modules, you can actually scroll down two or three times on the multitool one, and the lower you go, you will often find a few A and even two S ones.
And I’ve had it on two space stations that there was an S-type scanner upgrade module for around 450 nanites.
And because scanner and analysis visor belong to the same group, this one gave me more scanner range, and around +6k rewards to flora/fauna analysis.
It’s not as in NMS 1.0 where you needed analysis visor upgrades to allow you to scan creatures from further away, this is no longer the case; most of the time I can scan the flying creatures when I’m underneath them (you just need to hit the little circle with the crosshair of your scanner visor and then keep it scanning by following (remember you have two zoom levels with the right stick press)).
But almost all of the scanner upgrades upgrade either/have all bonuses for multitool scanner range (the left stick press), flora money bonus and fauna money bonus.
I’ve also noted that when you have scanned all creatures on a planet, you have to manualy press the claw icon in the top right next to the squares of x/x creatures in the tile bar of the fauna scanned, to get your “all creatures scanned” nanites and milestone advancement.

I know you are talking about the teleporter, but there are actual Stargatesportals in the game where you have to enter runes to determine whereto in the galaxy you can walk through
Whoch might make that NMS Galactic Atlas website very interesting, as it seems only planets are uploaded with a portal there (and yes, you can see on that website where you will travel to because you can consult their “address” their (written in runes) and there are already quite a few people at the centre of the universe.
Just zoom in until you select a triangle (planet) and press the up arrows at the bottom left to see more info and the address.

I have two scanner mods and scanning creatures gives me a quarter million units.
I'm doing the Artemis/Apollo story and now the sentinels won't leave me alone. They don't even go down to "searching". Particularly annoying since I need to go to a different planet as part of the story and sentinel spaceships show up and slow me down.
EDIT: Restarting the game got the sentinels off my ass.
Also, I tried out joining random multiplayer games to get to space stations to buy suit upgrades and it moved my mission objective to the random system I joined.

Heck yeah they do, I’ve got another b-class mod alongside it now. So much money for scanning a tree I love it
I had forgotten how much I like organizing the tech on my equipment to get the best bonuses in this game

I bought an S-Class ship. One of the crazy one with the ball and the giant wings that fold down. It had a pretty tiny interior though so I also bought a fighter to use for normal stuff.

Yeah since the s-class scanner I picked up was a mod and not a blueprint, I’m pretty much stuck with this multi tool until I can figure out to build one myself. I’m sure 9 slots will... be plenty...

I don't think you can even get blueprints for mods.
Not being able to transfer ship and multitool upgrades does suck.
Yup, that was one of the big highlights for this update. Get everyone into a freighter, warp to a new system, go do multiplayer missions with each other.

Ugh my frigate can’t do an expedition without getting damaged. And now I’m experiencing a glitch where it won’t mark the final broken station. Anyone run into any fixes on that?

I didn't realise you had to fix frigates yourself, so I sent mine out on its second expedition and it got destroyed, so that's at least million credits down the drain
OK, I have trouble with some photo missions (on PS4).
I managed to do a mission of “take a picture of a ground creature” with no problems.
However, I currently have:
- take a picture of an airless world
- take a picture of a desert world
- take a picture of a toxic world
I’ve been on Desolate planets which have nothing, but they don’t count as airless.
I’ve been on Arid and on Parched planets, I see cacti and dunes and sand, but apparently it’s not a desert.
I would assume they’re going off the descriptors you see when you’re flying in space, aim at a planet and scan. It usually says something like “Name” with planet type just below, regardless of the actual contents on the surface.
On an unrelated note now I have 8 million credits.

I guess the one thing that I would need to restart the game to get is a refiner blueprint as I haven't run into one yet.
I have blueprints for advanced mining laser and a terrain manipulator already - so now I'm back on par to being able to extract all resources like I was back in 2016.

I thought I’d was copper? 10 units is infinitely easier to get than 10 copper.
I haven’t even seen the stuff the other aliens want.
But it's essentially the same thing.
i admit it does sound like a korvax trap
I am almost always out of copper though.

They do, up to three mods I believe. Connect any more together and it overloads until you remove one. Removing a mod destroys it, so be careful.
