    Love those panel 1&3 faces.

That was me in the late 80s for sure, reading Dragon Magazine, yearning to take a road trip to Milwaukee. Alas, it never happened. Present day, though, I've gone the last 4 years and love it.

    Tycho is reading issue #138.

I similarly grew up with no access to cons. Nothing came anywhere close to where I lived. But boy could I read Dragon and dream about them.

    I had that issue, too!

GenCon is awesome, but it's a little crowded now:

Last time I went was 2012, and it was wall-to-wall with people back then. So much gamer funk! They've been expanding beyond the convention center, but it's definitely packed like sardines.

Gabe will be at GenCon? Oh, I'm definitely coming over to 2847 to say hi and check out Thornwatch.

Ahhh yeah, i totally see that now. It was probably a lot more obvious before the speech bubbles were added.

Hopefully this is a sign that we might finally get a release date for Thornwatch.

What, "when the new frost hides behind a cloud and the fresh berries are ripe like a woman's laugh" isn't specific enough for you?

Man, the forecast is for angry lion roar berries through 2020.

Yes! After all the years of pining for Comic-Cons and PAXes, now you'll be in my territory. My cold, cheese-obsessed, inexplicable Republican-supporting territory...

Still though! It would be neat seeing Gabe this week. I'm kind of surprised Tycho's not going, though. What with them both being kinda rich and successful and all.

Is there any kind of Gen Con discussion or meetup going on?

You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.

Yeah, that's my problem with cons (including PAX). I WANT to like them and want to go to them, but then I realize I hate people when there's more than about four or five of them in a room. Even when they're otherwise mostly good people. I am weak against crowds.

    My friend works for GenCon.

    That's all I got.

Cold? The forecast calls for 92F and raining on Thursday. Imagine the funk when people don't want to leave the rooms to get fresh air...

But, yeah, I'll be going to GenCon for the first (and probably last) time this year! If anybody wants to put together a meetup, let's do it.

What game did Mike work on that Jerry didn't?

What is this I don't even.

    Thornwatch, apparently.

I just puzzled why Jerry couldn't go to GenCon if he really wanted to. If the two of them wanted to knock out two or three comics beforehand, they probably could have made the time.

Then again, I'm sure I'm vastly oversimplifying things, and the PA Empire requires one of them to be present or it grinds to a halt.

Jerry can go to Gencon whenever he wants but that isn't a very good premise for a comic

  • RatherDashing89RatherDashing89 Registered User regular
This confirms that Tycho is a portion of Jerry's inner self, like the cartoon on Lizzy McGuire or McGee and Me. Jerry has decided to stay home and poor Tycho is trapped there with him, while Gabe gets to tag along with Mike.

For those of you who don't read the news posts, and I mean ALL the news posts not just the ones attached to the comic, you really need to. This comic, plus the "confidential" posts are just awesome.

*Edit* Whoops, I actually meant the next comic. Whatever.
