I was actually in the original beta up until the second phase right before they opened it up. The game was horrible then, but meh... whatever. I'll run around and do a whole lot of nothing for a couple months if I don't like it. not a huge loss.

Environments. I think they're beautiful and my inner nerd loves visiting places I read about in the books.
Patches: Turbine has always been very good about patching in content regularly. The first scheduled patch is a month from now and adds a new area, skills and more.
Instances: I love the way they are using instances in this game. Especially the newbie area ones. Short, but unique, as far as I know.
Sure there are things not to like, but until Conan or Warhammer comes out, this will tide me over. All I'm doing in Wow right now is raiding so I have the time.

and it delivered on it for quite a while, up until the end of the Vesayyen Isles and shit, and once Split Pea and... fuck, that macro program whatever it was called... were introduced, shit went to hell. Once the housing went in and the cities died, shit became real lame.
But the shadow spires event, the show event, all that shit was revolutionary and fucking awesome awesome awesome.
