When I was a kid, we occasionally had problems with a stray ant crawling around the bathroom. For some reason, ants will not cross a thin film of soap from a bar of soap. Thin, invisible lines controlling where the ant will go. Minutes of fun for a kid in the bath.
But what if the ants climb your finger, creepy kid? WHAT WILL YOU DO THEN?
find out what they taste like?!
"mmmm, tastes like chicken."
There used to be a candy store at a nearby mall that had insect candy. I remember a sucker with a grasshopper in it.
On one hand, I feel bad for the bugs (but hey, I eat meat, so...) and on the other, I'm sad I never tried one to see what they taste like.
a while back I was picked out of a crowd to do some sort of "Fear Factor" thing as Six Flags for a prize package, and one of the things I had to do was eat live crickets. The crickets tasted like crispy grapes, believe it or not. I honestly think I would do it again knowing what they taste like (if it was on some kind of bet that is).
That was me. I was desperate for a sense of agency. Didn't put my bare flesh near bugs, though, but I did do other things for no other purpose than to assert the very idea that I had power over whatever it was I was interfering with.

I hope Malachi's ear spider makes a guest appearance.

It looks like a really well-made forums! Not big on commenting myself, but hope it takes off.
