man that game dev tumblr person is really full of themselves
are they? it strikes me more as someone weary after years of being exposed to game communities for mmos and the like knowing that most players don't know what the fuck they want or even if they did, they want something that would be bad for them, and having to answer questions along the vein "why don't you do this" again and again
They think chat is a non trivial thing to implement.
I mean yes to a layperson, it is highly complex.
As a developer, you should be able to do it with your fucking eyes closed in 2016.
Hell, why even reinvent the wheel? Use something like IRC (a lot of MMOs did this actually).
They put a lot of emphasis on needing to be more secure than normal programs, but.. that's just hand waiving tbh.
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

Is straight edge really required for the solution? Because I like to do drugs while I geometrize.

that's only true in a trivial game with a single server
if your game is scattered across dozens of db and app clusters around the world and they all need to be the same chat it's very hard.

I suppose, but it has nothing to do with security and item duping. But MMOs don't really need that kind of leverage today.
WoW has it because it's leveraging way older paradigms.

1) a limit can never equal infinity. If a limit approaches infinity (technically: diverges) then the limit does not exist
2) Even if you ignore #1 that limit wouldn't exist because it approaches either +infinity or -infinity depending on which direction you approach 8 from. And the definition of a limit for real numbers requires that the limit be the same regardless of direction.
yeah but in standard calc you totally write limits as if they = infinity or -infinity
well, no you can't. In common english you can. It is usually understood as a sloppy shorthand for "limit does not exist". But in no form of rigorous mathematics is that acceptable.
I'm not concerned with whether or not it can or cannot but it is notated that way in universities everywhere.

Is this like that Facebook math problem where people think there is more than one answer because they don't understand order of operations/PEMDAS?
Whoops never mind I embarassedly mixed up the compass and portractor
there are known angles that are construct-able via compass/straightedge, so that solution might work?
The only angle I construct in my solution is a right angle.
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

tumblr person is right in regards to atomicity in regards to transfer/mail/auction house though so I guess I can cut them some slack before I cut them something else

I never have to take another math class ever again and I managed to not take calculus.
So happy with my life choices this morning.
Yeah but what if you start playing a game where if you roll the max value on a die you re-roll it and add the results? (aka "exploding dice")
How will you calculate the expected value of a roll without calculus?
How?
HOW!?

Yeah I suppose they're not.
Just seems dismissive in general and overly smug.
That was awful generous of her.

I will admit that it was the constant transphobia and homophobia in hat killed it for me for good. Harambe was just icing.

yes
I don't even see what you're talking about! but nonetheless, feel better.
If they are wrong on the Internet yes
you and college freshmen everywhere
Isn't every angle used in a solution the right angle?
