So the Penny Arcade wikipedia entry is super out of date: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny_Arcade

I can't edit it due to wikipedia's impartiality rules, but you guys totally can.

Does impartiality apply to stuff like this or just political, religion, etc?

I figured you being the authority would be the best person to modify that and keep it up to date.

not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

i mean i know that you trust tube, but letting corporations edit their wikipedia pages basically just turns it into ad copy

Bingo. It would be against the rules for me to edit it, even if I did my best to write impartially. Mainly it's the various projects that we've done which aren't covered there that bug me.

I'm going to be honest if i didn't know tube having a community guy ask fans to edit a wiki reads as bad.

I know there's no sinister intent here, at least no more than normal for tube, but if this was like the neverwinter game forum and one of the community people was like "we can't edit our wikipedia page, but you can!" i would read it as some kind of ploy for a positive wikipedia article.

Depends on the community. I think if Tube's goal was to create positivity in the article, he'd be more likely to tell us not to edit the wiki.

Asking this community, I'm sure the article has been updated to be all about papist conspiracies and jelqing.

The real reason Tube isn't allowed to do it is because the article would keep getting sidetracked with ruminations on the sexual preferences and performances of various historical figures.

Nah. I'm not offering anything in return, saying what I want the wiki to read or even giving a list of things that are missing. I'm saying "hey, PA fans, this PA thing is incomplete". Y'all can do with that as you will. I have no way of knowing if any of you end up adding to it or not.

tbh I wouldn't take the risk with a sticky that lasts too long; if you get caught you're more likely to incite someone in the wikipedia hierarchy that's still mad about something jerry or mike said in 2009.

    Zoel on
A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.

you know, Tube's been interviewed by actual media outlets about the forums, that probably fits the standard of notability

  • TubeTube Registered User admin
There was a separate article for the forums back in the early days of wikipedia. It was deleted for notability guidelines. I really don't think it needs more than a footnote to be honest. It's not like SA where the site is just a companion piece for the forum. It's a little crap that the forum entry on the PA wiki is so out of date though.

I'm pretty sure I remember the forums entry on Wikipedia, and it was full of weird self-congratulatory shit that people posted about themselves, or awful shit about other people.

This was years ago when the forums were much rougher than they are now, though, so it may actually be a more positive thing if people were to do it now.

Yeah, but I get the feeling they'll take just about any job they're presented with, because if someone took the time to come to them, then clearly they deserve what help they can provide.

That midwest courtesy thing is a real double-edged sword.
