So in the middle of season 5 of my Buffy the Vampire Slayer re-watch marathon, the show suddenly disappears from Netflix (Finland). Didn't see it on any to-be-removed list.

Some things cannot be forgiven. I will find a way to get back at you, Netflix!
For those of you thinking about getting into Mindhunter, here's some advice: tough out the first episode. The first episode is borderline unwatchable, the episodes that follow are like a completely different show...

The first isn't unwatchable at all imho. But the 2nd and 3rd are completely different beasts.
I feel like the Voltron people were getting some network notes and decided to make fun of them mercilessly. Jesus.
The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.

Watching Twin Peaks because it's been on my backlog for a long time. About 5-6 episodes left in Season 2, but hoo boy is it in Soap Opera land with a David Lynch paint job.
Liittle people, log ladies, murderous spirits, etc... Show is weird. Pretty much only watching it to catch up for the return.
though I do think jazz ghosts added nothing to the series whatsoever except the opportunity for the best Freddie Mercury impression I have ever heard in my entire life

I can't agree more. That concert scene with them screaming intellectual pretentious bullshit at each other for minutes on end really set off alarms for me. It gets much better afterwards.
The line that cracks me up every time for some reason is
"Nick and Andrew are friends again, Andrew's pants are gone, the teachers look poor, what the Fuck is going on"

CraveTV, we need to have a talk.
I am aware you use My Cravings as a way to keep track of what I'm watching most recently, which is useful to me since it appears right at the top!
You know what's not useful? Automatically removing titles from My Cravings after I have watched the last episode, particularly when you have series that put out new episodes every week, meaning every single time I watch the latest new episode, you remove the title from My Cravings because I've "finished" it.

Chelsea Handler's ending her Netflix show after this season "to focus on activism" blah de blah anything to make it not seem like her show bombed. When you go from three times a week (and didn't even maintain that schedule for a chunk of that time) and then returned for another season where you went once a week (which was still filled with gaps), whatever you need to tell yourself to make you feel good enough, smart enough and doggone it likeable enough.
Finally started watching Stranger Things! Probably won't finish it before season 2 starts, but we've watched two episodes so far. Not much to say there other than that we're enjoying it.

You seem awfully mad at some random person I and I would bet most people have never even heard of.

Handler is a pretty decent name in the comedy/talkshow area, and was a big get a year or two ago for Netflix along with being pushed strongly early on with her standup special and little Chelsea Does short lived series. Just end the show and move on, don't try and hide it behind a veil of giving up something to go do something more noble.
It really weird how TV hibernates like a freaking bear or something still.
Making a TV show takes a pretty long time.
Plus there's no real "still" here. Dumping all your episodes at once and then not dropping more for a long time is a new thing. The old style was the network model where you'd have a break over the summer between seasons and then you'd sprinkle small breaks over the course of the year here and there, with usually a big one in the middle for christmas break.
The newer style of generally less episodes dropped in a package (either a binge dump for online services or just a 2-3 month every week event for cable) is I think a lot healthier for the industry too since it lets more shows survive and get seen because they aren't all competing against one another at the same time.
It's all just scheduling like everything else for 50 years ago.
I'm sure some of such a long delay is for scheduling, but I guarantee you they weren't finished with all 12 episodes in August. Star Trek Discovery for example is taking a midseason break because they only wrapped filming last week.

Yeah, that's a lot of unwarranted hatred towards someone for no apparent reason. Were you a fan of the show? Is that why the gaps angered you?
I didn't watch it religiously but I did see a few episodes from each season. It seemed good enough IMO. I can't comprehend why anybody would have an issue with the show ending for any reason other than being disappointed it's not on anymore.
Started watching Lucifer. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it, but somehow ended up binge watching the first season pretty quickly. It's loosely based on the Lucifer introduced in Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics: Lucifer grows miserable in Hell and quits, moving to Earth to start a night club and live like a mortal, solving murder mysteries on the side. I like that there are plenty of nods to the comics in the dialogue, and the show manages to be pretty funny at times.
Based on the first few episodes, second season seems more solid than the first one. The characters have kind of found their voices and the jokes land more consistently. Also Tricia Helfer joins the cast, and she's always a delight. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys this kind of lighthearted fantasy/horror fare (think Buffy, Supernatural, Constantine, Charmed...).

That's warranted mocking for a Netflix show in the Netflix thread, not unwarranted hatred. Hatred is reserved for Captain America, Collective Soul, and my own posts. Handler became one of those annoying celebrities who said she'd leave the country if Trump got elected, only to back out. And now with a middling reviewed show that was reduced in episode count and seemingly under performing, to spin it like the show must end in order for her to go become an engaged citizen (those were her own words ), it just reeks of ego.
I bring up the gaps in her show only to make a point that it seemed like the show, despite not having the same rigorous schedule of usual talk shows, had plenty of opportunities to retool or not achieve a burnout for the staff. This was supposed to be a new attempt for Netflix to launch into a more topical, timely format and you can't do that when you have repeated gaps in the show. It felt like they were bilking Netflix. And all that money they took probably came from the Marvel TV location budget, which is why we will never escape abandoned warehouses.
I'm kinda surprised The Tick is as well received in thread as it appears to be. I hated it. The anti hero and the villains are way more interesting than the heroes, but worse, it's just not funny. I recall 4 gags in total that I really liked, none of which involved the Tick. I still remember the Tick's definition of "denouement" from the cartoon 20 years ago, not a single line from last month. Bleh.

Seemed like a logical adaption of the show post-Trump. No one ever leaves when their favored candidate loses elections, you know that - and that goes for both sides. I don't think she's faking her hatred of Trump, and I don't see where your getting that from from that article. Why would her canceling her show t pursue activism be egotistic, wouldn't that be the opposite? She'd be losing money being an activist. It comes across as confused anger at her for daring to reconfigure her career to take aim at Trump. Something every comedian in the country does.
Comedy shows have been having a resurgence since Trump took office RE: Last Week Tonight, Late Show with Colbert, Seth Meyers, Samantha Bee etc. I haven't seen a reaction like this since W was elected. Aside from Jimmy Kimmel, who's starting to get fallout in the ratings for cozying up up to Trump, and his lack of being funny.

I think it's just that in this instance 'I'm quitting TV to focus on activism' is only slightly more believable than 'Canadian girlfriend'.
Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to get it!

Dale Cooper is the best. One of my favorite characters in any show.

Seriously, that was a great show and despite all of the crudeness was a very sex positive show.

In other news I've started watching The Exorcist tv series on Netflix and I'm really enjoying it. It's shot really well and has a great atmosphere.
