You don't leave money out when you're not using it, either.

People sometimes forget their locks and yeah it's risky but that doesn't mean no lock equals free bike, my dudes.

Especially since bike locks are essentially security theater and do nothing to prevent theft. The best way to not have your bike stolen is to have an ugly bike.

Okay bike locks are a little more of a deterrent than "security theater". Luggage locks, yes, since a common ballpoint pen can pop the zipper and leave no trace of forced entry. A bike lock needs to be broken and locking it up in public creates a pretty good chance someone wouldn't be able to just take the thing without being a little conspicuous about it.

Compare this to unlocked bikes that any asshole kid could just pick up and ride away without anyone being the wiser.

Then-again, maybe you can pop a bike lock with a paperclip and I'm just ignorant.

I remember reading an article from a veteran bike thief that said basically if he wants to steal a bike that bike is his. Just a good pair of bolt cutters and off he goes.

The actual deterrent is putting your bike in a well-lit, crowded area, because the danger for a thief is being seen cutting that lock.

The other main difference, I suppose, is that if it's unlocked you can easily go in there and act like the bike is yours so nobody suspects you're stealing it.

Well yeah a determined well equipped thief will take what he wants, but there's still value in decent locks. Like a cable lock will deter casual crime of opportunity thieves, then a step up from that a U lock will deter folks with basic cable cutters. It's all risk management

Hey so I just got an Android tablet

does anyone know what a good e-book app is? Can I buy Kindle books on Amazon and just view them on it? I'm a baby at this but there is too much paper in my home.

The Google Play Books app seems alright, but I guess it's mainly for books bought from Google Play. You can upload books from other sources, but apparently it won't let you read them without an internet connection.

I haven't tried the Kindle app, but it's probably fine.

I'm not expert, but I've heard that a lot of bike theft is organized crime. As in they come in a truck and just pick up bikes without unlocking them and then sell them in some other country.

That's for here in Denmark, though. I have no idea about bike theft in America. Don't you even barely have bikes?

Actually just checked and it looks like you can read your uploaded books offline after all.

I think I might just have misremembered the error message for a book that hadn't been downloaded.

This is good, but i don't see Michael Caine anywhere so how am i supposed to know it's your podcast

michael actually commissioned a separate entry, of him sitting in his chair in caine manor, surrounded by his family and very good friends, looking into the camera, wearing the batman cowl and no pants. I had to delicately tell him we would be opting for gus' work instead.

Back to the porches thing for a minute

I live on the second floor of my apartment building, of two, in the complex.

    It has a balcony.

The balcony overlooks... the lobby. The balcony is inside and it overlooks the huge, huge central lobby where we have our take a book/leave a book library and community furniture and tables.

    It's really weird.

"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."

I wrote stuff down from this week's Totally Reprise now:
"It's me, the least popular guest." No you're good, I'm glad you're on here again
"I'm feeling pretty good, you know, all things considered. Can't complain." "You can, I just gave you the platform to complain."
"Alright listen, I don't want to get lewd on this podcast." "Are you sure?" "That seems like a change in direction."
"You did your self-deprecating bit, said that you're the least favorite guest, and I stood up for you, but now I'm wondering. Bringing this smut on."
"At least Luke had the decency to lay himself all the way out and say, here's all my porn. Here's all of it."
"I can't believe neither of you called me out on having seen Dogma and nothing else."
"I have seen Bad News Bears Go To Japan but not Bad News Bears."
I haven't seen any Die Hards, I plan to soon
I think I've played that Ocean Hunter game
"Of course, like any good game from Japan, it ends with you killing God."
"You love Sonic, don't you?" "Yeah." "You okay?"
I have played Persona 1 and 2, so for all intents and purposes I haven't played any Persona
I didn't notice that there was a clock that contradicted the time on the screen, what the fuck
    "Millenials are killing drowning!"
I didn't expect David to be a recurring character
I love how David just got really mad and smashed his painting
"Dare I say it, this is a good Clover episode." She's always good with the burns, in my opinion
"Alex being bad at geography is consistent canon, I can't believe it." this show picks the weirdest times to be consistent
I also thought that Bob sounded like Inspector Gadget, it's weird
"Gotta get those dudes, gotta get that D."
Sunny Day is a pretty good villain, also she reminds me a lot of Whitney Frost from Agent Carter
"It's not the gayest show anymore. Might still be the horniest."
"I know we dealt with the nachos, but where did the steaks come from?" "They're pork chops. They just started calling them steaks to make themselves feel better."
I always think of WOOHP as just being the supervillains (specifically Wily) who actually managed to take over the world, and now they need to keep other supervillains from taking over the world from them
"They take the helicopter back towards the boats after they realize there's a laser they need to deflect back at itself." "OF FUCKING COURSE. OF FUCKING COURSE."
"He is, like so many of us, inspired by Clover's suffering."
"For hating Homestuck, Maxie sends us a lot of shit about Homestuck."
Jade is pretty pure, but yeah I think Alex is purer
"So that when people go, oh you talk about Totally Spies for two hours? I'm like, no. An hour and forty." "Not quite! Not quite."
The next episode sounds like it's going to be a fucking episode
Ashley's Karkat voice is pretty much Strong Bad, isn't it?
