Last night I felt really sick and vomited about twice, I couldnt sleep, felt dizzy and had a fever. Eventually I fell asleep and now im waking up to a back thats hurting really bad, my fingers are in pain and I still have a mild headache. Could it be something serious or should I think about going to the doctor?

Sounds like food poisoning to me. If it's not a severe case (i.e. if it's getting better; fever is falling and you can keep food down currently) there's not a lot a doctor can do for you. Just drink a lot of fluids (a lot) and lay around in bed for a day or two bitching about how much your body aches. It worked for me.

Even if it's not food poisoning, most if not all of the stuff you described could just be the result of violent vomiting. Barfing is really a strain on your whole body and you can end up pulling muscles in any number of areas.

The back pain and fever bother me - could be signs of kidney infection (as could the other symptoms).

I'd recommend a trip to the doc if you can.

The back could be from vomiting.
I've hurt mine before doing that.
It'll pass (if it's vomiting related), hopefully it's not serious food poisoning. DRINK LOTS OF WATER!

If it's food poisoning then you're going to feel like utter shit for a day or two. You NEED to drink a lot of clear fluids to help flush the bad out of you.

If your pain or symptoms worsen then you need to go to a doctor.

Food poisoning is different from a stomach virus, so it's important to figure out what you had. Did you eat something and then get sick about 2 hours afterwards, or did it just kind of "happen" and didn't seem to be related to any food?

How long were you out for? Just a night, like a few hours, or are you still "sick" today?

For both, the 1st option leads towards food poisoning, the 2nd towards something more like a norovirus (commonly called the "norwalk virus" after norwalk, ohio). If it's food poisoning for reals, you should see how you feel today. Not all poisoning is the same, and if you're unable to keep food down and you still feel in pain, you should go see a doc. If you're able to eat, take some ibuprofen to deal with the headache and muscle pains (vomiting pretty much inevitably leads to strained muscles), and go to bed early tonight to make up for the lost sleep.

If you're actually sick with more virus-like symptoms, just take it easy. I got a norovirus last weekend (the 15th) actually, and while I was "better" on monday and able to eat, I was essentially sick still until thursday, with a LOT of sleeping until then.

Generally with stomach problems, unless you have some other health issues, if you're able to eat the next day you're fine.

I had the same issue, but once I threw up the food I felt a lot better.

Take medicines and stuff for your fever, drink lots of fluids (avoid powerade, gatorade is better). I'd reccomend going to see the doctor especially if you have back pain--a definate sign that you're sick is that you're vomiting and have a fever.

Are you having chills or are hot and cold

PS It could be SARS, the cure for that is Campbells Chicken Noodle Soup and Sprite...just in case.

Generally, if it's a kidney issue, the pain will be in your lower back/sides, and you'll probably have issues peeing.

MD here. This is not medical advice, I cannot diagnose you over the internet.

Normally I'd have a lot of questions, but I can't ask them, so I'm going to give you some general information instead. All of the symptoms you've listed could belong to a wide variety of stomach bugs (bacteriogenic, virogenic, etc), but it could also belong to pancreatic disease, kidney disease, or even a more general immune problem. The most likely really is something flu-like, especially if you're younger than 30, because of the diversity of your symptoms. What I'm going to do is recommend some general advice for that (good stuff has been said so far), and give you some just-in-cases to be safe.

Drink lots of fluids. Eat what you can, when you can - sometimes small amounts of saltine crackers, pretzels, or chicken broth will stay down. I've had success with recommending ginger ale. There are over the counter drugs for your symptoms, like tylenol flu; if you can, find some nice person to get some for you. Sleep as much as you can. Beyond that, pay attention to these just-in-cases. If you notice these, then it's time to call the doctor:

Symptoms at the present intensity that last 4 or more days.

Pain that is excruciating. It may be constant/significant and still normal, but it should never be 8/10 or higher on a mental scale for you, where 10 is the worst pain you can possibly imagine.

Two things to watch for in your urine. Whenever you start to pee, flush first, so you can see it. 1) You should not see a dark urine in the bowl when you are done (like a yellow-brown, just darker than your darkest regular urine). 2) You should not see foam at the top of the bowl after you pee (imagine it like the head on a glass of beer).

If any of these things happen to you, then you should call a doctor. If something happens that I didn't list, and it makes you feel nervous or uncomfortable, then you should call a doctor anyways.
