YO GUYS, I figure I can't be the only person on here who still watches figure skating. I am dying to talk to someone about this hot mess of a season. Wanna discuss Gracie Gold's meltdown? I am here for you! Will Ashley Wagner keep up the momentum she has coming out of Skate America, or will she turn into a basket case and fall apart at Nationals? Do you sigh every time Adam Rippon comes back because you know he's probably going to waste his potential?
SHOULD JASON BROWN CUT THAT DAMN PONYTAIL ALREADY?
I am also here for historical figure skating discussions - do you think Gordeeva/Grinkov was the best pair ever? Does Torvill and Dean's Bolero program leave you cold, as it does me? Do you think Jessica Dube was a little insane to get back on the ice after her accident? (for those of you who are reading this and going 'what the hell?", Jessica Dube's partner, Bryce Davison, drifted too close to her during a spin and accidentally cut her face open with his blade. She had to have 83 stitches. THEY WENT BACK TO COMPETING TOGETHER AFTER SHE HEALED. It was nuts).
I love figure skating and all of its drama and ridiculous costumes and amazing athletic feats and I am hoping someone around here does too.
I will leave you all with this amazing video of two french skaters taking their music choice as literally as possible. Like you do.

Also a lady had her kneecap broken by a deranged lunatic.
I know a lot because well I wanted to try it out but alas I am far to big for it
Nothing because I don't know how the scoring works nor do I think anyone really does
The scoring system is insane and makes zero sense. I've been following the sport for years and still don't understand it. I think the thing that annoys me the most is that you get more points for an attempt at a more difficult jump, even if you fall, than a perfectly executed less-difficult jump, which leads to people trying things beyond their skill level and falling all over the place. Watching a well-executed program is more satisfying, even if it's technically simpler, than watching someone try for quads they can't do and fall on their ass constantly.
I also skated for a while (and want to go back to it, I just keep injuring myself in ways that keep me off the ice) both as a kid and as an adult, it's SUPER fun and I would recommend it even if you're not the "right" body type (I am on the heavier side).
I don't really watch figure skating but it's beyond crazy to me that people can learn how to do all those moves without dying or sustaining permanent life-altering injuries within the first couple years.
I can do a few of the staking tricks but I have not staked in years so it's not really going to be the first thing I would try
If you put wheels on my feet I suddenly have no coordination
Fair!
