    Mike uses Burn!
    It's Super Effective!

"everyone has to start somewhere....but I don't know why they would show this to anyone"

the devs are going to need this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_burn_centers_in_the_United_States

edit: I'm a sad person because the video actually made me want to play the game, it looks dumb enough to have fun with

Mike was just not holding down the fire button. You can shoot a lot faster than that...

This is a legitimately fun game. It's a fast-paced roguelike-ey thing. Not mind blowing but I spent a good 10-20 hours on it and feel good about it. Lot of weapon variety, and the classes you unlock are different enough. For starters every weapon has an alt-fire which they never figured out...

I haven't played it, but it's got a 90% positive on Steam with almost 2000 reviews. It seems many people disagree with Mike and Jerry.

It probably just depends on what you want out of a game. To me it basically just looks like Serious Sam with mage staffs.

I have to be honest that to me it looks pretty generic as well. I'm sure it's great if you are a really big fan of those old school style shooters and are satisfied with just shootin' stuff, but I didn't really see anything in here that stood out to me as especially original or interesting. It seems like a game I'd play for 30 minutes, have an okay but unmemorable time with, then never play again.

And here I thought that I'd had my FPS based motion sickness licked.

It felt like they were being held back substantially by the controller vs a keyboard and mouse. A first-person fantasy roguelike seems pretty sweet to me, and this is on my wishlist now.

Right, but Jerry and Mike don't review games. They play them and then say what they think about them. They don't try to understand whether or not the "average" gamer will enjoy them.

Look at a game's steam page. Even if there's a small sliver of people who rated it negatively, then just imagine Jerry and Mike are in that sliver. Not everything is for everyone. There's really no objective merit of any piece of art. The closest thing is a consensus, but that's all it is.

So in this case, it's not big shocker that they might be in the 10% not-positive group.

I feel like I have to add </rant> now, even though if you could hear the tone I'm intending this, it's not really a rant. Just my reaction upon reading things like this.

I think I didn't correctly communicate my intent. Mike and Jerry (like everyone) are welcome to any opinion they feel like having. Even if they were posting scores on Metacritic, I'd feel they could give any game any score. This is why I didn't say anything value judgy in my post. I had gotten the impression from the thread that Ziggurat was generally regarded as bad, so I was quite surprised when I saw the Steam scores. So I posted them here.

I gotta say I agree the models, environment and movement all seem pretty bland. Maybe later monsters get more interesting abilities, more of the rooms have walls and elevation and things?

Anyway, all I know is this whole election cycle was worth it to hear Mike call Jerry Mike Pence :)

Mike seemed like he had a bad time.
The game probably needs a tutorial or something to make sure that people like Mike don't run around going 'pew' slowly at things.

Otherwise it looks like a fun Doom-y thing with mediocre visuals that would be vastly more fun with keyboard and mouse. Don't know how you make quick work of the flying dudes if you constantly have to change the elevation of your cursor with a thumbstick.
