I will be shocked that Ronda ever comes back to MMA after this. She has a lot of other potential avenues for her life, several of which she's talked about as possible post-MMA paths for herself (opening Judo or MMA schools, acting) and others that people have openly speculated on (pro wrestling, for example, and the WWE has made it very clear they'd be happy to have her).
Nunes' stardom will skyrocket after this. She will be the one who "retired" Ronda Rousey. She plays her cards right, she will be the one getting 3 mil paydays. That's how MMA works. Just because you take on McGregor or whoever and that's what they make, doesn't mean that's what you get if you beat them. People get paid on what they are perceived to draw, and not anything else.
Is that "fair"? NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOPE!
But if you want to get into the nitty gritty of that, feel free to have a talk with D&D's MMA thread about how fighters are paid, especially by the UFC. It's a fun subject.

Watching the ITV World of Sport pilot and I think the production team are trying to go for some kind of record for the amount of cuts, it's doing my fucking tree in.
Commentary is pretty bad as well, but that's not a surprise since I'm not a fan of getting an import in to be the voice of an alleged BritWres revival (even though I quite like JR normally) and Alex Shane is even worse as a commentator than he is as a human being.
.
I've watched the first 12 mins and so far the Alex Shane commentary is hot garbage every syllable is hurting me, JR is fine and I like that he's just calling every single move no matter how basic ( which is lucky as there isn't anything remotely complex in the first match).
The opening Grasp/Mastiff match is... puzzling.
A) why open with the championship match, I presume shenanigans for later in the show and another match? that was the most utterly, utterly basic match I could imagine. Like WWE at its most basic and bland from 8 years ago.
I like Grado and Mastiff though so, eh.
Oh fuck how I am hating the Alex Shane commentary. Really, really hating it.
To be fair Raw is going up against Alabama vs Clemson that same night.
It's just a joke on how Smackdown will get ratings for quality so RAW just has to throw whatever it has out there like Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker.
And Mark Haskins didn't retire did he? He's off to heal.

From what I read, Nunes also elected to take a smaller payday in return for PPV %, so the numbers bandied around ain't her actual take-home pay.
The numbers bandied around are rarely ever anyone's actual take home pay. The athletic commission's in whatever state that event took place in reveal only the contracted purses for fighters and nothing else, if they reveal anything at all.

WWE programming — and the rest of NBCUniversal’s lineup — has not been pulled from Charter Spectrum’s cable systems yet. Deadline reports that NBCUniversal and Carter have extended their negotiations for the time being in order to avoid a blackout of the content provider’s programming for Spectrum customers.
The move comes after the two companies hit an impasse in negotations for a new carriage contract to replace the one that officially expired today. The rights fee deal encompasses all of NBCUniversal’s broadcast and cable networks including NBC, USA Network, E!, Syfy, Cloo, CNBC, MSNBC, Bravo, Oxygen, Esquire, Golf Channel, Chiller, NBC Sports, MSNBC and more. WWE’s network programming airs on USA and E!.
NBCU said that it “will continue to negotiate in good faith so that Charter Spectrum customers can continue to receive NBCUniversal’s valuable networks and we hope to be able to reach a deal.” As such, while things aren’t out of the woods yet, unless something major falls through by tomorrow night Raw will air for Charter Spectrum customers as scheduled.
It'll be 4 years between Mania's. Is that a record?
Nah, 4 and 5 were both at Trump's place in Atlantic City.
Mania 1 and a portion of 2 were in New York (though not the same arena) and a portion of Mania 2 and 6 were both in Canada (but again, not the same arena).
12 and 16 were also at the Arrowhead Pond in Cali so it's not as unusual as first thought.
Huh. Revival's pretty obvious, but I kind of figured Tye would go directly from "NXT performer" to "NXT trainer". Maybe the "TEN" chants infecting the main roster crowds put him over the top.

This is what I'm doing tonight, at the gym where I film my wrasslin.

Thanks Dyvim, I forgot Kris Travis passed away this year.
Nunes.
Because she's probably going to get to claim that she retired Rousey.
And because she beat the blood out of Ronda's face.
Still, the pay both got is ridiculous in its lopsidedness.
Ronda will not
I thought E was supposed to be the weird one.
