im like eight hours into the game and i havent purchased any equipment yet.

Something tells me I am in the wrong just based on the ten or so other final fantasies I have beaten, but this game is just bizarre when it comes to explainign what is actually important.

Also, the XP/camping system and the non-way you control yoir party are also off.

There is a lot I enjoy so I will keep playing, but I hate that this is the game that the future of new final fantasies relies on. It's just strange.

on ps4 pushing the right stick will give you a comparison of a weapon to your own, i bet the xbone has a right stick that can do stuff or a button that can do stuff........generally you're safe if the big attack number on the upper right is bigger on the new one...but it depends on what you want out of the weapon for the rest of the stats

this is useful advice. works in shops I assume?

edit: I adore the cute sprites that jump around showing you can or cannot use gear when hovering over it, but the lack of numbers just really hurt my ability to make heads or tails of it.

the square button dodges and lets you roll, and block. If you press the square button when an enemy is attacking you will block, when it tells you to press circle, press the circle button and you will parry. Then you and other members of your party will hit them a bunch.

Honestly I haven't turned it on in 2-3 weeks but I recall being able to explicitly see the attribute values associated with each weapon when changing equipment...

Also interestingly in Fry and Laurie (as opposed to say, monty python) sketches where one or the other cross dressed weren't accompanied by silly voices and extravagant make up

There should be numbers in the lower right of the screen I think? I think they show in the merchants as well?

Also don't forget to sell random trash since they replaced enemies dropping cash with enemies dropping bits and pieces that you then sell for cash.

But don't sell everything because there are random bits and pieces you need to upgrade weapons. And before you ask no of course the game doesn't tell you what to keep that would be crazy.

I'm not great at the combat either but money is plentiful and potions are cheap so I just abuse that.

the crap dropped by enemies is also important for spell crafting, and some of them give ridiculous like 4-5x and spell level increases to the spells you make. You can take down enemies that are like double your level... and the rest of your party because of friendly fire some of the time, but... eh... that's ok.


edit: so maybe make sure stuff is totally trash before selling it. but the magic system is kinda not great anyway.

The one I've spent most time on so far is Space Pirate Trainer. There's lots of really cool things you can do with different weapon combinations. Right now I'm using a sort of electric baton in my left hand, which pulls enemies towards me, then I shoot them with the shotgun on my right hand. The baton also blocks laser shots, so it's a nice combo. Plus, when you block lasers, it sends them back towards the enemies, and I can grab an enemy and drag it into its own laser.

Lots of running around and dodging. So far this is my favorite.

I remember reading a few stories about people who have depth problems and VR works great for them.

I recall one that VR "fixed" their depth problems too. Can't remember the specifics though.
