1. Overwatch (PC,PS4,XBO)
2. Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS)
3. Titanfall 2 (PC,PS4,XBO)
4. Stardew Valley (PC,PS4,XBO)
5. Dark Souls III (PC,PS4,XBO)
6. Fire Emblem Fates (3DS)
7. No Man's Sky (PC,PS4)
8. Dishonored 2 (PC,PS4,XBO)
9. Pokémon Go (Mobile)
10. Accounting (HTCVive)
Some of those would probably have placed higher if I had more time with them (I only started playing Stardew Valley 2 days ago). I'm increasingly done with Pokemon Go, but the early experiences with that were unique enough that I still appreciate it. I just got to try Accounting this past weekend at a friend/coworkers house and it was really neat and earns it's spot by being the proof of concept for me that this VR stuff has potential.
That would have made my top ten
My GotY is Devil Daggers.
no wonder goty deliberations take so long
I really wish I could somehow break the concept of "numbers" to give my top 6 all a higher spot, but in reality they're all at a lower spot than the list implies because my real GOTY is the Steam port of Danganronpa 2.
I usually just cut this to 10, but I felt like including everything that I even remotely enjoyed playing this year.
Spoiled for rambly explanations that no one cares about
Guilty Gear and Blazblue are the two best fighters to come out this year (or any year, really), and I briefly thought about putting them lower since they are basically expansions, but fuck all that those games rule.
I fucking loved Pokemon, Overwatch ruled my life for a good months or so and I still like to play it occasionally, Inside slightly edges HLD since, while HLD was a lot more fun and the one I could see myself replaying again, Inside is the one that sticks in my mind more. That game has some moments.
DOOM and TMS were ridiculously fun single player games that knew exactly what they were trying to do and didn't stray from it.
Nitroplus Blasterz at 11 is the honorary "I Can't Believe This Doesn't Suck Ass" award; that game was stupid fun even if (because?) it was anime as all hell.
Tyranny is a game in a genre I hate and the gameplay did little to change my mind, but the overall world and characters felt cool enough that I could see myself going back and finishing it, which is more than I can say about any other Isometric, D&D style RPG I've tried.
Furi is stupid fun and stupid hard but I only played it for about 4 hours. Still on the list cause that was a great 4 hours, and eventually I'll go back and conquer that game.
SFV was below the next two fighters to make a point, but in the end I decided nah, I still had fun with some aspects of SFV, even if the overall product was dogshit. KOFXIV and Blade Arcus still make the list because eh, they were fun enough for a bit.
FFXV rounds it out at 17, or the "I want to acknowledge this game exists and some parts of it are pretty cool, but overall I am enjoying it less than Blade Arcus, a game that I only remembered existed when voting in this poll" position.

67. Overwatch
68. The Witness
I didn't see gundam breaker 3 for selection, but maybe that's a different year.
We are due a new Armored Core though!
I did completely forget about Hyper Light Drifter, I'd probably put that in at number 10 ahead of No Man's Sky

2. Monster Hunter Generations (3DS)
3. Pocket Card Jockey (3DS)
4. Zero Time Dilemma (3DS,PC,PSVita)
5. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice (3DS)
6. Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS)
7. Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter (PC, PS4, XBO)
8. Pokémon Go (Mobile)
9. No Man's Sky (PC,PS4)
10. Firewatch (PC,PS4,XBO)
11. Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE (WiiU)
12. Pokkén Tournament (WiiU)
I didn't play enough of Firewatch to rate it higher but I liked what I played well enough to put it on my list.
I played more current releases than I thought I did (there's some others I left off/missed), yet I still feel like I barely put a dent in the year. Yeesh.
I didn't get much time to play games in 2016, that's my entire list.
(Like I did play a few other games in 2016, but with my level of backlog, I think I'm only just reaching 2001-2002 era games so those are all disqualified!)
