Seriously. I find it doubly exciting - both for the game itself and for the future of VR, which still seems shaky. Any time we see an obvious investment of resources into a polished product like this one is encouraging.

I am 116 minutes into Moss and I am seriously considering a refund before I pass the two hours mark because an achievement told me to stop giving Quill ear scritchies.

It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

I mean, the trailer looks good, yes, but we hardly saw any gameplay.

I mean, I'll probably buy it anyway without knowing any more about it.

Don't you dare stop giving her ear scritches.

One of the first achievements I got was for cutting too much grass because I was obsessed with slicing every blade of grass I saw.

I have to say, I love that Polyarc went the route of "Moss is coming to PC VR, and it's available....NOW"

I love it when devs drop surprise bombs like that, and it makes me much happier and much more likely to run out and grab it, vs the ones who announce something 3 months in advance and then I have time for my enthusiasm has time to cool off and for me to lose interest. I actually think waiting until something is ready to go and available to announce it is just a straight up and down better way to do it.

  • Nova_CNova_C I have the need The need for speedRegistered User regular
I only had about 30 min to play it tonight, but damn if Moss isn't the prettiest VR title yet. It's adorable and compelling and using the one narrator to do all the voices, because you're being told a story, is the best.

This is actually a really interesting point. I wonder if when a company has a massive budget and can afford to keep the hype train going with various marketing techniques then the classic long burn hype train might be the way, but for smaller dev/production teams then the big headline grabber and release might well be the way.

So question about Moss... does it allow for multiple save files? One common issue I've had with some games on Oculus is that there doesn't seem to be any way to switch profiles or save files for like when my kids play. So if I start a game, either they can't play or they have to wait until I'm totally done with a game. I'd like to get Moss mainly for my kids, but it'd be nice if we could all have our own saves.

It has at least three different save slots.

    Played some more Moss.
Quill is for cute, why are there mechanical sentries that straight-up vaporize her, that's not cute at all.

Moss is mostly a sitting game right? Room's still a mess so I haven't bothered with VR but if I can play it mostly sitting then it's worth a shot.

I do really need to make space so I can play Rec Royale though.

Moss is sitting, yes. I think it even tells you to sit while playing. I played for about 30 minutes earlier, and it's really cool. So much character, and beautiful to boot.

There are a few puzzles where you might need to stand up just to get a better view of a puzzle. But yeah, it's a sitting game.

Sometimes you get out of your chair just to get a better look at some of the scenery or even to get as close to Quill as you can. You know, 'cause cuteness.

  • DhalphirDhalphir don't you open that trapdoor you're a fool if you dareRegistered User regular
I play standing because I have a big space and I like to move around and view the great scenery but gameplay wise it offers no reason to stand.

Got my PSVR all set up, and popped in Skyrim. About 5 minutes and I started feeling dizzy and a little nauseous.
It's been about an hour now, and my head still feels weird, and my stomach is kinda rolling.

I don't like where this is headed.

But man, Skyrim looked really fucking good!

Were you using smooth locomotion? If so, I’d recommend using teleport locomotion and snap turning for a while until you get your VR legs under you a bit. Lots of people have issues when first trying VR (I definitely did), but you can eventually get used to it.

Just don’t overdo it at first. Keep your sessions short and don’t push yourself. If you get even a hint of nausea, take a break and come back later. Eventually your tolerance should hopefully build up.

Thanks! I'll have to look into smooth locomotion. I used snap turning some, but once I was running from Alduin, that's when it really started to kick in.

Yeah, my buddy got nauseous instantly from Minecraft and it lasted for hours, even though he had taken the headset off. Don't ever try and push through the VR sickness, it'll only make it worse. As soon as you start to feel funny, take the headset off and have a break. Like Big Dookie said, you'll (probably) eventually get used to it.

Yeah I maintain that the best way to start on VR is switching off constantly with a friend. Still have yet to experience anything even approaching nausea.

Anyone been using a Leap Motion with their setup? They've been working on some cool stuff recently

So it turns out that where I'd left off in Moss yesterday was actually right close to the end. Suppose I ought to go through and collect all the collectables now or something.

Is this your first VR? It can take days/weeks/months to get your "VR legs".

I suggest starting with smaller, simpler VR experiences. Try playing some of the games in the free Playroom VR, for example.

VR Worlds is another good one.

Yes, this is my first ever BR experience. In doing research, it seems vestibular issues can also exacerbate VR sickness, which I have, and am also getting all plugged up with spring-time allergies.

And Moss is most definitely one of the highlights I'm looking forward to

On PSVR I'm a big fan of Eagle Flight too as an intro game, on top of Super Hot.

Skyrim and Resident Evil are stepping into the deep end.

Went to a friend’s for dinner today and he has a Vive. I’ve never played modern VR and had a really good time.

My wife, who doesn’t really play video games at all, instructed me to get one. So I’m getting one I guess.

I think the regular Vive makes sense over the Pro, since I’d need a new video card at least for that. Any reason to wait right now or is it worth pulling the trigger?

can you feel the struggle within?

I'll say what I always say, don't rule out the Rift, it's cheaper with the same features and capabilities. I think it's better, most people will agree it's the same.

The Vive is a solid choice, you can't really go wrong with it. If you're not gonna do room scale, the Rift might have an edge, but if you are I'd recommend the Vive every time.

Not remotely true unless you're using your living room or other substantially large space, like 10ft/3m square or bigger.

  • SixSix Caches Tweets in the mainframe cyberhex Registered User regular
Yeah I’m going with the Vive I think for a few reasons.

    1. The friend who is a big VR fan and who had been trying to introduce me to it has one and it will be fun tonhave the same setup.
    2. We have the space for room scale so might as well.
    3. The Facebook connection with the Rift is a negative for me.

can you feel the struggle within?
