PAX East 2017 Magical Mystery Tour of Boston!

Twitter: PAX_MMT Follow this to keep track of where we are in real time. Very useful if you want to join up partway through!

Who: You! And me. And other PAX peeps. AKA your future friends.
What: Visit interesting places in and around Boston.
Where: Schedule TBD below.
When: The two days before PAX: Wed 3/8 and Thurs 3/9. Traditionally runs from 9am to 5pm but you don't have to do the whole thing.

OP updated to my normal header. I'll add in the potential stops later. In the mean time, THIS thread (not the one I previously posted) will give you an idea of what's usually available for us to visit: http://forums.penny-arcade.com/discussion/196167/2015-magical-mystery-tour-wed-thurs-prepax-adventuring-schedule-up

Note to self: Cheers has meh food. Not worth going.

Note to others: I think I want to explore Quincy this year. I'm thinking Quincy on Wednesday (Abigail Adams' house, John Quincy Adams' tomb, wherever else the historical trolley thing goes) and then Cambridge area on Thursday (MIT, Harvard museums, other fun-ness?).

Another note to self: The Harvard Natural History museum is interesting, but way too hot. I always feel stifled, light-headed, and eventually nauseous in there.

Note to punzie: No one wants to see the the contemporary art museum, no matter how many people vote for it.

    Aw poor ICA :(

OP updated with old list of places. Some future day I will check pricing on those places (it's probably gone up on most places) and add new stuff.

Great bunch of folks when I've joined in with this and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to get a feel for Boston. Will be curious when/where the MMT goes this year as I may want to stop by again.

I'll touring on Thursday. If you're open to suggestions, it will be my boyfriend's first time so I'd like to visit Sam Adams or Harpoon Brewery and Quincey Market. It also might be fun to do the tea party museum again if the water isn't frozen.

12pm tomorrow works great for me. My plane lands tomorrow morning at 10:20 so I'm hoping I'm at my hotel by 11 and I can be there by 12. Is there anything special I should be looking for or should I just say keep a lookout for the big bald guy with a grim reaper tattoo on his forearm?

  • MagnusCarterMagnusCarter Registered User regular
Excellent, Lay in, then food, then more food. Sounds like a plan.

  • punziepunzie Cookie Pimp Registered User regular
We'll be the group of nerds milling around the front of the bcec. I know that doesn't super narrow it down, but on Wednesday we'll likely be the only ones who don't look like they have a purpose.

and yet, you have a very important purpose!

I enjoyed our abbreviated your today. Thanks for joining, those who did.
Tomorrow we'll meet up at 9am in front of the bcec. Sam Adams is a bit of a trip from there so we have to make sure we leave in time to make that 10am tour. Bonus: it's free. And yes, you'll get beer at the end of the tour.

And an FYI: I do not look at this thread while we're touring. Twitter is really the only way to contact me: @pax_mmt or @sewingpunzie
