SQL question

I'm running a backup software from a server and am trying to backup my exchange server. However, it needs me to turn on Named pipes and TCP/IP in the SQL Server Client Network Utility.

I enabled these settings but am still getting an error from my backup software when trying to access MICROSOFT##SSEE.

Backup exec on a 2012 R2 trying to backup exchange 2007 on a 2008 R2, SQL 2005.

Error: Microsoft SQL server does not appear to be running or network connections are preventing access to it.

Exchange doesn't rely on SQL server in any way.

I don't know what your SQL install is doing, but you don't need to back it up to back up Exchange.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.

Is your server a Small Business Server by any chance?

I am pretty sure backup exec needs an SQL connection though.

    Can you please clarify deathnote666?
