When I was like eight years old, I saw the series finale of Twin Peaks at my grandma's house while all the adults were sitting in the kitchen talking. Had no idea what the show was about, just sitting there alone in a dark living room soaking up that Black Lodge goodness.
I finally watched the whole series when it came out on Netflix and just about lost my mind when that episode came up, because at that point I was pretty much convinced I'd imagined the whole fucked up thing.

Watched the first episode tonight. What a trip! Most of the dialogue is spoken in a highly affected style reminiscent of the early years of film acting. It's not fair to say that the whole town is full of weirdos, but there are definite standouts like the log lady, whatshername with the eyepatch, and Dale Cooper himself. And there's a sinister conspiracy about...shutting down a sawmill? Seems like small potatoes, but we'll see where it goes.
It's also interesting where we pick up the story. Cooper's already arrived, made initial contact with the local police, and apparently had some kind of town hall meeting where he achieved at least cursory familiarity with many of the residents.
I don't think you watched the actual first episode then

The second episode gets mislabeled as the first a lot of the time for...reasons? They didn't include the pilot on the first DVD releases which doesn't make sense to me but it's not the first time I've seen that happen, transformers animated did it with their first season release as well
Anyways, the first episode is streaming everywhere if that's what happened
I watched the first season of this a while back
Kyle Maclachlan was absolutely great in the role of Dale Cooper, totally committed to it, but everything else about the show was very much Not For Me, which I think is just an extension of David Lynch not being my kind of thing
It's cool that this is happening in very nearly the predicted time frame though, and I hope the 99% of my friends that love this show will be happy with it

I wonder if Cooper is still an FBI agent in the new season, or if he retired to Twin Peaks?
I dunno, coming into the series so much later, knowing in advance that the mystery of who killed Laura is not the ultimate point of the show, just a jumping off point to all the weird soap opera stuff going on around town, I appreciated that second half of Season 2 maybe a lil more than usual, and I hope they don't feel the need to create a new mystery for this one, to make it feel more like the first season, yknow? I just want weird people doing weird stuff and maybe there's a demon sometimes.
am i the lone crazy person who loves the second season more than the first?
asking for a friend
Are we talking as a whole
Cause season 1 is like 7 episodes and season 2 is 22
Season 2 probably has 7 episodes that are better than the first
The first 3 or 4 and the last 3 of the season are really good
i mean as in i'd much rather watch season two where it is full blown ridiculous soap opera
even the stupid as hell middle bits
even james' stupid road trip
You mean Mope Quest: Journey to the Center of James' Own Ass?
Also, whenever it comes to the singing scene, I immediately think I'm being punked by some kind of Auralnauts dub. Just profoundly terrible and shameful singing.

There were good and fun parts of season 2 but the lack of a compelling, driving, overarching main narrative after the reveal is what really made it suffer

the second season is bonkers and wonderful
I forgot about the Catherine-san bit. My wife and I completely failed to pick up on it until the big reveal, and when it happened we both yelled so loud at the TV it scared the cat.

Yeah, I was thinking "Dude, in 25 years I'll be dead"

Oh. I guess this will make me cry.
I can't decide whether james or Bobby are freaking me out more. Probably bobby, james always had a ticking timer on top of his head
I just watched the second season of Twin Peaks, and I have so many questions that I hope season 3 doesn't even bother addressing.

I always have had a weird fondness for Ben Horne's sudden break and interest in Civil War miniatures.
