Cool interview with Zahn McClarnon (Fargo season 2, Longmire) about the new AMC show The Son:

The series, based on the book of the same name by Philipp Meyer, presents a grand sweep of Texas history through the eyes of Eli McCullough (Pierce Brosnan), who was born on the same day Texas became a state, and Toshaway (Zahn McClarnon), the Comanche man who captures the young Eli, and later becomes like a father to the boy.

I'd already been looking forward to it, and then read this in that interview:

“They changed dialogue for us, they listened to us and took suggestions from the Native community members on the shoot, and they wanted to do everything properly,” says McClarnon. Respectful cultural efforts included bringing in advisors such as Juanita Pahdopony from the Comanche Nation, and hiring 30 Comanche tribal member extras and riders from tribal communities with strong horse traditions — such as the Blackfeet Nation — to Austin, where the episodes were shot.

Fuck yeah, good Indian TV. Comes out in a week, and I'm amped.

I am still weighing my options on subscription services to watch Better Call Saul next month.

I am thinking Vue if only because I have a PS4 and it'd be easier.

But I think slingtv is a little cheaper?

American Gods is based on a book by Neil Gaiman that is about the gods that immigrants brought to America that live among us even now.

Legion is about a young man who has struggled with mental illness finding out he has superpowers. It is very loosely based on the story of the character of the same name from Marvel's X-Men comics.

American gods plays with the idea that faith/belief has real power. A man leaves prison and ends up in the middle of the conspiracies of the beings that have been created by that power, be it gods of the old world or of the new world.

I mean, they've already had

Baelfire command Rumple (via The Dagger) to kill Beowulf

this season, so sure why not.

Don't worry, Rumple made Baelfire drink a forgetting potion afterwards so he doesn't remember it happening. But then finds out Beowulf is dead and thinks Rumple did it on his own.

I'm always amazed at what they manage to pull out of their collective butts.

Like for example

Hook killed Charming's Dad way back in the day. This deep dark secret lasts all of 1 episode, because it's immaterial to Hook and Nemo getting kidnapped by Rumple and Belle's "we totally didn't copy this from Angel" adult son.

Who wants to kill Emma because that's the only way to be The Savior, or something.

I don't know why they didn't end the show after "Rumplestiltskin finds out his dad is Peter Pan and also Peter Pan possesses Rumplestiltskin's grandson, who is also the grandson of Snow White and Prince Charming, who was also adopted by Snow White's evil stepmother" because that was really the peak

We would have never found out that Snow and Charming are villains, forcing Maleficent's baby to take on all of the evil energy from baby Emma.

And then we never hear from Maleficent or her daughter ever again.
