The trailer for The Last Jedi landed. Is anyone here pre ordering for the bonus?

Exactly 2 years after the last one, eh? Hmm. Trailer looks good, definitely not going to pre-order this time around. I'll apply for the closed beta when it comes out and try it then lol.

I like the idea behind the campaign, but you just know they're going to have you switch sides at some point.

I'm worried a little that they will just replace the pass with microtransactions and RNG cosmetic loot boxes. But it's nice that the player base wont be split up this time. It does seem like they've listened to the negative feedback from the first game, though. I'm hopeful!

I want to see way more gameplay before I get excited.

The first one had presentation that still blows me away but gameplay wise is pretty dull and simplistic.

Plus I'd love them to return to traditional class style stuff because if your games big advantage is going to be 'looks more Star Wars than the movies' then I'd much rather the rebellion and Empire all fighting with proper weapons.

The Star Wars Battlefront II: Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition turns your troopers into the ultimate opponents. Every trooper class (Officer, Assault, Heavy, and Specialist) is upgraded, delivering superior firepower, deadly weapon modifications, and epic abilities. Charge through the grand corridors of Theed City with the A280-CFE blaster rifle instant weapon unlock, with additional scope modifications for enhanced zoom capabilities. As an Assault, use the epic grenade ability to split your grenade into three separate grenades, covering a larger area of damage. Players who pre-order Star Wars Battlefront II: Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition also get to play Star Wars Battlefront II up to three days early. In addition, players will receive the Star Wars Battlefront II: The Last Jedi:Heroes, which includes exclusively themed looks for Kylo Ren and Rey, inspired by the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and epic ability modifiers.

So, this is interesting. The product description for the Deluxe edition seems to imply that character classes are a thing. Also, the "Preorder for The Last Jedi heroes" thing doesn't seem as bad now. To me, it seems like Rey and Kylo Ren are in the game and if you preorder you get some costumes and abilities.

character classes were confirmed in the panel, along with a pic showing classes from multiple different eras.. this is where the battle droid and I think the Clone Trooper was shown (and also a female rebel in endor gear who looked a lot like jyn erso but I guess wasn't?) Also there is now customization and progression not only for classes, but also for heroes, vehicles, and hero vehicles.

Edit: here's the entire panel (minus the behind the scenes video that aired after the stream ended), so we can stop relying on my shit memory for info:

oh and the planet that main char is from (pretty sure its also the planet she gives the speech on), Vardos, willingly joined and contributes to the empire.. it's not under occupation.

Colour me interested of they shift it back to more bf original then the new bf. I like my classes and I agree with the thematically weapons. Never seen a stormtroopers carrying rebe weapons.

I saw a kid get handed a JB poster by who I presume was his parents outside my store today....he tore it in half infront of his horrified parents.....There's hope for our youth yet!

I can understand some complaints about an rng cosmetic system, but i still think its way more consumer friendly than a season pass. If it funds new maps, heroes, and vehicle then I am all for it. I actually prefer the pay $5 and get premium cosmetics.

the possibilities for cosmetic items are endless if they do expanded universe "wipes dribble from mouth"

Fuck meeeeee.... shit! I'm worried about Amazon running out of Deluxe editions. The campaign alone sounds really good for this and makes me want to drop a preorder. Dammit... I'm so weak =/ I feel a preoder coming.

Someone needs to ask EA the tough questions.

(Also will the gameplay be completely dumbed down to oblivion again)

My gut says no. I mean, we have no idea since that haven't shown any gameplay yet but with the return of character classes, and also the addition of weapon mods and upgradable abilities, I feel like the gameplay has to be a bit deeper this time.

Whelp, I preordered the Inferno Squad novel that's coming out in July. Let's see how much longer I can resist doing the same for the game.

Turns out I was able to last a day and a half. Well, technically I lasted four and a half days from the reveal trailer, so that's something. But whatever, I'm super weak and preordered The deluxe editon on Amazon. Get that sweet discount and delivery is confirmed for November 14th instead of the 17th.

    Well that went well.

I'm still going to hold out for a bit longer. Or just see what exactly they are going to do with the game.

It sounds like there's going to be offline vs AI options for the MP modes right out of the gate this time, and those matches will still count towards all the progression stuff.

Battlefront 1 was too simple and too close to BF1 for me to buy it, but it was so gorgeous that I wish it was good enough for me to have played. BEAF2 looks like it might be fixing some of the issues I had - adding classes suggests they're not trying to keep it so simple as to be effectively braindead, for instance - which means I'm getting pretty pumped. I looooove Star Wars and hanging out in the Star Wars universe with that sort of fidelity is pretty tempting.

What we've seen here definitely looks promising, but please please be smart with your money and don't pre-order, that goes for any game. But especially anything published by EA.

At the very least, pre-order in a way you can take back. On the plus side, it's sounding like Xbox will have digital refunds by the time this comes out, so you can just Nope out if it sucks.

Yeah, nope. I'll spend my money however I choose. It's Star Wars, and it sounds like they addressed all the complaints from the first one, so I'm willing to give them a second chance.

I want Battlefield 4 with Star Wars guns and vehicles. Something fundamental changed after BF4 that sent the series in a direction that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. From feel of the gunplay to the UI, etc.

Aside from 'sending a message' how does not pre-ordering change the game this close to launch? What would they do differently if they saw no pre-orders coming in w/out context to the specifics?

I just don't see the difference in pre-ordering or picking it up day 1.

He's specifically raging about people putting down full price payments before there's even impressions up about the game. Which sends the message that with enough advertising, people will buy any old shit. Not that it's bad to buy a game you want, as quickly as you want to.
