I hope DDT responds to House of Horrors by making Apartment Complex Wrestling free to view for a week. Because there are few things more horrifying than watching the Brahman Brothers.

I'm going to lay out a pretty hard and sobering truth here

If we really cared about the wrestlers overall long term health and well being, we would choose not to watch any wrestling.

In fairness, Payback was a pretty damn good show outside that.

And at least no one is hardway head butting anyone to career ruin.

Okay, so I guess I should support something better then.

Like the WWE and their Network, whose wrestlers, oh sorry, employees, oh wait not even that, independent contractors aren't provided health care, provided retirement, or even given a union (and attacks efforts at forming one). Also my money goes to Linda Senate campaigns and Trump donations. Yay?

    Answer me this honestly Sweeney.

Other than the Trump thing, is New Japan any better at treating their talent?

I don't know every detail on the medical side so there could always be an exception to the rule, but for the most part surgeries are covered by the company unless talent insist on covering some charges.

Meanwhile on WWE, they disagreed with Paige's doctor that she needed neck surgery (after her second suspension) and made her pay for it herself because of that.

A more serious situation, which Dave obviously didn't talk extremely in depth about (it's likely going to court at some point once Natalya's eventually canned), was the Tyson Kidd injury, where at least a few people backstage thought he was faking and refused to call an ambulance, causing an argument. Nattie had to drive him there. The neck injury was of course severe enough that if they dilly-dally'd with "is he faking" "or not" for much longer, he very likely would have passed before making it to a hospital.

Dumb as the Shibata headbutt was, he was rushed to ER immediately after getting backstage, because New Japan knew the collapses were Not Good and certainly Not Faked.

And I didn't know about the Kidd thing, but WWE did pay for the surgery and I'm pretty sure are still paying him?

Oh and one more thing, New Japan would let Daniel Bryan wrestle for them in a heartbeat. I don't see how anyone can defend or condone that.

Your first question was "are they better at treating their talent", which I definitely do believe. Not once in the last 4 years, let alone in recent memory, despite any grudges they might have had with talent (again can't recall any) did they believe someone was faking a severe injury or lying about needing major surgery.

I can absolutely buy they don't want (or at least wouldn't benefit from the existence of) a union. The independent contractors thing I maintain is stupid as fuck everywhere that tries to exploit that shit. But there are absolutely ways talent are better treated in New Japan, and with health being the start of the subject, the addressing of serious injuries and immediate response to it is a strong example of it.

I would argue the Paige and Kidd examples are exceptions to WWE's injury policy and not the norm, but that doesn't make the company right either of course.

Network runs and looks great on the new TV. So that's a plus. Got to watch the PPV with my grandmother...we'll see how she feels about three nights of this in a row, though. I need to see how Sling does USA I guess.

So, when the commentators were running down how fast and strong and talented Joe is, my grandmother only had one thing to say. "He's fat."

I lost it and couldn't explain to her why.

Isn't the train thing still free to view? I forget

They need to do a sequel

That parodies Train to Busan, and at a random stop zombies enter and the wrestlers have to still have a match while fighting off/running away from zombies

Apparently Hulk Hogan wants to join The Bullet Club.

The only way that wouldn't be awful is if they immediately turn on him and everybody including Bone Soldier makes him out to be a chump and he's never seen again.

Right but most likely you aren't gonna see that anymore unless you are using public access channels as all cable and satellite tv stuff I've seen, if not coming in correctly, just gives you a blank screen instead of static. Similarly, when I turn on my tv, it starts out blue instead of a bunch of static.

I don't get the decision to dethrone KO at this point at all, and is it definite that the loser goes to RAW?

Neville/Aries was a clinic as always and it's time to stop segregating these guys from the main roster.

Bayley losing her title was for the best, her reign has been shit, she's been pretty much an afterthought and they robbed her character of the absolute pinnacle of her story by having her achieve her ultimate dream like a month before Wrestlemania. Every other win will always be less than the first should have been. Alexa all the way.

How did Jeff lose a tooth? I can't see it on the video.

Holy shit that House of Horrors match was a shitshow and the crowd was right to shit all over it. Think Bray is teetering on the edge of unsalvageable at this point.

Braun destroyed Roman to send the crowd home happy.

Walls were broken, but I'm not sure if there was an actual room-to-room transition via wall.

I was wondering about Owens, I thought he was going back to RAW that is why they moved the belt, they wanted Ambrose so the belt had to go over which happened to be on KO at the time. But then they didn't really say it explicitly after the match so I am not sure.

Inside of a dog...it's too dark to read.

I'm torn whether to give my Payback match of the night to Neville v Aries or Bayley v Alexa. Neville v Aries was a clinic and so very very crisp with a perfect "yeah, this is not over" finish, but Bayley and Alexa put on something very surprising and fantastic. Also Bayley wrestling aggressive, which she never does and it's great.

  • TransporterTransporter Registered User regular
The Roman/Braun match is worth seeing. House of Horrors was the only dip, and even that was salvaged kinda? Even though it was a silly salvage.

It might be the best Raw only ppv since the brand split.

It was actually a good PPV with solid matches and good storytelling(minus the HoH match
which had virtually no psychology to go along with Brays whole "I will mentally break you and you'll never be the same" promos leading up to it. It was basically two guys fighting in an abandoned house with some creepy props).
