I don't think I have ever heard Trump utter a sentence that would pass muster in a sixth grade English class.

Trump is probably going to just repeatedly ramble about how the Democrats criticized Comey and fail to get how that doesn't negate all the reasons Comey being fired is a problem.

Just look at the Dickerson interview from a week ago. Trump ended the interview when Dickerson tried to get him to say whether or not he still thinks Obama wiretapped him.

President Donald Trump weighed firing his FBI director for more than a week. When he finally pulled the trigger Tuesday afternoon, he didn't call James Comey. He sent his longtime private security guard to deliver the termination letter in a manila folder to FBI headquarters.

He had grown enraged by the Russia investigation, two advisers said, frustrated by his inability to control the mushrooming narrative around Russia. He repeatedly asked aides why the Russia investigation wouldn’t disappear and demanded they speak out for him. He would sometimes scream at television clips about the probe, one adviser said.

According to the local news station for this reporter, they spent weeks organizing that meetup and hilariously, Blum demanded that the children be present.

I actually live in his district. There was a report earlier that went along with this where he jokingly said "because republicans are evil, you know" when the reporter asked why he had the kids there.

I'm glad this has become a wider story than just the local news here.

Well yeah, of course a politician is surrounded by ethnic minority children everywhere they go, that's just how politics works.

Judging by the AG's letter detailing cause for his dismissal I expect them to make this as much about Hillary as possible...again. They will try to justify this by telling their base Comey failed and/or prevented an indictment.

My outside, unrealistic hope is that Ossoff win the Georgia runoff by apocalyptically wide margins, and Republicans get scared enough of losing their jobs that they accidentally do them.

none of this matters until republican representatives decide they want trump gone

and why would they want him gone when they basically have free run of the place while the world, the media and the public focuses on him instead on them

controversies, scandals, nothing will touch him so long as they refuse to act on it

and they have no real incentive to do so

Yesterday, a Democrat lost a special election for an Oklahoma House district that went Trump 73-23.

    He lost by 1.5 points.

I live in Texas so calling senators is probably the most worthless thing I could do, but I might try to call my rep. Probably also worthless from what I know of the guy but it may be worth a shot.

    why

pence isn't a maverick, he isn't a wild card, he won't captivate news headlines and give critics tunnel vision to the a target he keeps painting on himself

he might be extremely rightwing but he's also establishment; he'll free up capacities currently used by public, media and what fleeting resistance the political left can mount in the senate and the house that they can use to try and counter republican legislative measures more effectively

    people in red districts/states

yes, for the love of god, call

your calls are the ones that matter

I live in california and my congressman is one of the most outspoken Trump critics out there, my major issue is Dianne Feinstein being too much of a centrist/old person to be as loud as I want her to be

your voices matter so much more, and they need to hear your opposition

    call, call, call

I tried calling Orrin Hatch's office four times yesterday, and sat on hold for at least 10-20 minutes each time. I'd have sat on hold as long as necessary to get through to someone, but I was trying to do it in between crap at work, and kept getting interrupted. But it's something at least that he's apparently getting swarmed. Gonna try Mike Lee instead today.

My representative is fucking Chaffetz, and I haven't bothered calling because there's nothing I really want to communicate to him that wouldn't get me on a watch list

Hatch probably has a few state offices as well, you should try them

whenever I call Feinstein I just rotate through her five state offices until I get a person on the phone

Hi! I'm literally all of American History calling, right back to the start where we wrote a Constitution that said the only people who mattered were rich white men, oh and also it said it was cool to own people and we still passed it off as a democracy.

This shit isn't new, it's not the end of the world, we're not in some Mad Max politic-dome.

We have the tools to fight this, we just need to use them.

    • Go to protests, if you're able
    • Go to town halls
    • Volunteer with your local Dem party, especially if there are local elections coming up
    • Find a pet issue you are specifically invested in, donate money to the cause - Planned Parenthood, 314 Action, ACLU, etc.
    • If you prefer just going by phone, use something like https://5calls.org/ to do a daily 10-15 minute bit of activism that will coordinate with other people in getting messages across
    • Look for local swing district groups - stuff like Swing Left will help you find out where they are, if one is nearby; even if your district is locked in, you might be able to go there instead
    • Amplify stories on social media, and be direct (with proof) when people you know are sharing fake news. You might not change their mind, but it does have an impact on people passively reading the updates.

There's plenty you can do; you're only limited by how much you're willing to do as a citizen. I ah, can't really do much of anything as a Canadian citizen here without the risk of getting deported, but I sure as hell can give you options to participate in your democracy at least.

Yeah, I was bouncing between his local Provo office and his Salt Lake office. He's got others, but those are the ones that are big enough that they'd likely have more than one person answering phones.

actually if democrats can just win the presidency everything else will sort itself out

liberal ideas will just trickle down to the populace where they will be absorbed like water into the roots of our society

and everyone will finally be happy

I live in an all-blue area, so I've been wondering what I can do to help out

marches, obviously, I did the March for Science and had a great time

I'd love to try to put some pressure on GOP reps, but I've heard that it's counterproductive to call reps for whom you're not a constituent
