[url] tag not working?

I was trying to post this link in a topic and noticed the forums didn't parse the url correctly. So I tried to use tags to fix it and it just posted them as plain text:

This intentional or is something broken?

It's not a valid URL, it has an apostrophe in it. It works if you copy paste it, but this is more due to the URL than the software.

edit: or not. That looks like a bug in the URL parser.

Apostrophes are safe characters for URLs IIRC.

It does break there though.

That's actually a right single quotation mark, not an apostrophe. I'd encode that for a URL.

Ok so I re-typed it myself and that appears to work. there must be an odd character in there somewhere.

Yup, in the first one which I copied and pasted from your post there are hidden ascii characters that cannot be parsed, where as in the second there are not since I just re-typed the text myself.

the extra character is U+202C

Oh thank god. Thought it might be a weird character I couldn't see, but on a phone.

Oh! Yeah. That absolutely tracks. Those working urls were copy/pasted from a web form to tell me the length. It must have stripped it out.

E: Washing original bad link through same form:

Wash didn't work, but looks like those are smart apos in the url. Replacing did.
