Hi, let's talk about American Gods! Don't know what it is well here is a brief summary!
Shadow is a man with a past. But now he wants nothing more than to live a quiet life with his wife and stay out of trouble. Until he learns that she's been killed in a terrible accident. Flying home for the funeral, as a violent storm rocks the plane, he is greeted by a strange man in the seat next to him. The man calls himself Mr. Wednesday, and he knows more about Shadow than is possible. He warns Shadow that a far bigger storm is coming. And from that moment on, nothing will ever be the same.
This new series on STARZ is based on the Hugo and Nebula Award-winning novel of the same name by English author, Neil Gaiman.
It is available for viewing on the STARZ network/website in the U.S.A. and on Amazon Prime Video internationally.

PLEASE SPOILER SPOILERLY STUFF

spoiler based on book stuff
Ya wanna expand on that? Not sure what you're implying.
Super Book Spoilers: (Seriously)
That's my opinion anyways.
Ah, still think that's happening.
(Real Book Spoilers as well as TV up to 6)
Wednesday is still gonna do the sacrifice to himself thing that is at the core of the Odin story. I just don't believe that gets cut for any reason.
I call her Lich Babydoll.
And thus far I've been impressed with how Starz has handled all the juggling, it's worked out better than I hoped for after the initial announcement.
Of course I could watch Ian McShane read a phone book and be engaged.

*Sweeney looks around frantically.*
I think one drives the other. (Book spoilers)
I'm really enjoying the show, even all the changes. Ginger Minge is maybe the best though.
What if you had to fight Mad Sweeney?

I would get my ass kicked. That dude is big.
Contrast that to previous episodes which I think have been, on the whole, incredibly engaging and ballsy, both figuratively and, I guess, literally.
Lots of hangin dong in this show, is what I'm saying.
Really? I thought everything in Vulcan to super engaging and the B plot of Mad Sweeny and shadow's wife to be great.
I enjoyed 6 the least so far but I think it was because the soundtrack was needlessly intrusive and constant
In contrast, the track that played during Gillian Anderson's Bowie scene is stuck with me

Give her all the awards
15 year me was right... Gillian Anderson is the perfect woman.
For real I just finished watching The Fall and she's amazing in that as well. And Hannibal..
But her range in American Gods has been phenomenal. To go from Lucille Ball to Bowie to Marilyn Monroe while absolutely nailing them all is mind bottling.
I have to say that the stuff with Vulcan I felt was a bit underdeveloped, there just wasn't enough time to really explore him and I would have liked seeing a bit of interaction with the town's people.
On the other hand everything involving Laura and Sweeny was great especially
I also never expected the new Gods to be so fun. Come on Fuller go full meta and have Media show up as Scully!
Also for the next episode here's hoping that

One thing I will comment on that was in the current day
Quick Guess:
She was awesome in A Streetcar Named Desire too

I'm..uh..not sure if you're quite um..
yeah, you may have misunderstood part of that.
Anyways, just finished.
It was a real good episode.
Got me all emotional and stuff.
So next week is end of season 1?
A quick clarification of what we saw.
Oh, some people on Reddit figured out a rough translation of what Sweeny yells (which is Old Irish and apparently a dead language)
I may be misremembering but it looked like there was a scooter on the side of the road there.
I interpreted it as a vision from Wednesday saying, essentially "You've got your coin, now continue down the road and you'll find an unfortunate accident victim with an easily taken motor vehicle so you can get your ass back here where I need you." Since the ice cream truck was on it's side and all, and Sweeney may be strong, but he's not "flip a truck" strong.
And that's what set Sweeney off, because he doesn't want to leave another victim in his wake to serve Wednesday. So, fuck him, dead wife gets to hold the coin for a while longer and they keep going on in the truck to meet his resurrectionist.
Well then. Still requires more information!
Well, this one was more about Mad Sweeny then deadwife.
On what we saw:
To be fair I was already tired last night when I started the episode, but when it was the same actress playing the "Coming to America" story and then was back to the road trip trio, I turned the episode off. I haven't been a fan of the extended "Laura" episodes so that didn't help me want to watch the whole thing.
It's the same actress but not the same character. It's implied that she is the one who brought over Mad Sweeny by telling generations of children about Irish fairy tales.
Deadwife just has "a glimmer of her soul" if that makes any sense.
I should have explained that I've read the book. I got what they were doing and realized it was going to be about Mad Sweeney, who I really like. I guess I'm just wanting more Shadow and Wednesday and the time spent filling in deadwife feels wasted to me as I'm not interested in her other than being dead.

If writers can't handle 20, why would you want 20?
