I have some legally owned epubs and while Readium is nice, I want to try Kobo as it's been great on my phone.
I have no issue opening the files on my phone (The new WH40k rulebooks I got in a bundle from the GW site), and google hasn't been much help.

It will convert from just about any book format to anything else as long as they aren't drm encrypted.
