That looks pretty freaking awesome, jeff. Something about your stars though, you gotta make them smaller, they look like balls of fluff stuck to the car right now. The rest is top notch though.
And yeah, Fraggle, I'm pretty much getting this for the decal part myself. I'm not so into the racing, to me, it's more like getting a new car to paint will be the reward for all the racing I did.

Thanks. These screenshots lose some clarity, which is why they look poofy instead of seeing the bright star points surrounded by a light corona.

Saw an ad for this on TV last night. I thought it was pretty funny, basically stating flat out that "these cars don't have rocket boosters, don't take hairpin turns at 400 MPH, and aren't indestructible -- they're no different than an ordinary car, and that's what makes them so special" or something to that effect. Of course, I imagine every Mario Kart fanboy in the world immediately retorting "BO-ring," but different strokes for different folks.

I'm kind-of disappointed in the ads so far. They're witty, but they look much worse than the actual game does in motion. The framerates are really low, and there's no motion blur. It's a kind of disservice to the game.

Does anyone know if this ships today or if stores will have it today? Anyone pick it up yet?
The Best Buy flyer in my paper (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) said the game will be on shelves at 2:00 this Wednesday afternoon. Not sure when the game stores will start selling.

Damn, those paint jobs have moved this up from 'very interested' to 'must buy'. Another reason for me to get a 360, I'm going to cave in pretty soon now.
A bunch of my office mates just picked up their copies from Fred Meyers. I believe in their search for copies, they found out Target and Circuit City also have them in. This is in WA.
So yes, I believe many of the larger stores could have it in today. GameStop certainly did not have it in yet.

Well i went into gamestop today expecting to purchase it. But I got to wait till tomorrow.
Although I did trade in, Spiderman3, Dynasty Warriors 3, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Pokemon Pearl, and Armored Core 3 which netted me $90 in trade in.
So I purchased this in full, picked up the Starcraft battle pack for $10 and put the rest down on Halo3.
I hope this game is good, because the ONLY game I want on PS3 is the next Gran Turismo. So I'm hoping this will keep me from biting the bullet on a PS3 whenever GT comes out.

Ya, the reason I got a PS2 was GT4 and Final Fantasy. So if FF13 comes to the 360 (the rumors are out there) and Forza 2 rocks my socks. I don't see any reason to get a PS3, except maybe to catch gilrain on Folding @ Home. . . worth $600, uh, no.

Just got the call from Aeris, my copy should be in tomorrow afternoon. I predict that I will be spending entirely too much time painting my car, while my gear-head roommate slowly erupts in rage and frustration.

I am buying the wheel AND the game today, along with one of those rolling desks so I can mount the wheel to it and not have it rumble my balls or slam into them whenever I try to make a turn.

ahaha. yeah, no one in my area has it either. doesnt matter though, considering my paycheck got bumped back a day because of memorial day.
Kind of ironic for a game with 3 speed classes (50cc, 100cc, and 150cc) :P
I'll be wishing you all well from the sidelines here. Real life car expenses have quashed any notions of buying Forza and an X-Box 360 to play it on this week.
Reviews for this give me flashbacks to Judgement Day on G4 whenever Tommy had to review an RPG. He'd go into convulsions about how it's for nerds then say the game just isn't very good based on that.
I like how he insults the console he's reviewing a game for early on.
While I appreciate his sentiment when it comes to his Charger-Ferrari, SNES-360 comparison... really, it just makes a tool look like moreso.
I also think it's funny that he's disappointed that Forza 2 doesn't make him feel like the Fonz.
It's FORZA, not FONZA!

Contradictions. I love contradictions.

Burnout is great and all, but I'm wondering if he missed that part where Forza is built from the ground up as a
REAL DRIVING PHYSICS SIMULATION
Doesn't anybody have it yet? I've had to actually do work today cuz nobody has posted any good hands-on info for me to read.

I know there are some jagglies based off playing the demo, but I think he goes a bit overboard in comparing them to LEGO blocks. He also talks about drab colors, but going by what I've played in the demo, things don't look all that bleak. It sounds like he wants the game to be bright and actiony like the Burnout games are.
It basically sounds like these guys wanted Burnout or PGR, got a realistic racing sim instead and gave it a high score despite not liking it as to not make people angry. Goddamn, it's a racing sim. It's supposed to be realistic. You put explosions and fake shit in and guess what? You've lost the demographic the game was originally going for. Gamespot's review was far more digestible.
In other news, I just got home from Target with this. I'm so escited!

Yeah, that review was awful; typical IGN. At the beginning he complains that it isn't PGR or Burnout, then ends with the rhetorical question "what about those of us who don't like sims?"
Uh, don't play Forza 2, dumbass.
Forza seems to excel at precisely what it's supposed to excel at: being a driving sim. You don't fault it for not being Burnout or PGR, just as you don't fault those games for not having realistic physics.
It's funny, I was reading how the IGN guy said there was no sense of speed, then while watching the video review on Gamespot they showed clips of some F-1 cars going WAY TOO FAST. Hey IGN, you know why there's no sense of speed when driving your pimped out v-dub bug? Because it's a v-dub bug!
Given that Forza 2 and Gran Turismo 4 are, at the core of things, the same kinds of game, it's only that much more embarrassing that the reviewer for GT4 said the game "screams" in towards of action. It shows how much of a tool and idiot this guy had to have been to have raised his hand when they handed out Forza 2 to review. I imagine something like this happening...
"Who wants to do Forza 2?"
"A racing game? Dude, I'll do it! I fucking love Burnout!"
Enough of this rediculousity, though. I have Forza 2, a Toyota Supra, and a frozen pizza with my name on them.
EDIT: heh, I already got two achievements for having a flawless lap and race.

Compared to Forza, I'd have to admit that GT is more action-oriented. No damage means a lot more grinding and bumping, which means more risky behavior and just all sorts of acting crazy. Forza on the other hand is very by-the-numbers. You keep your lines, draft as best you can, and wait patiently for an opening.
"Screams" in towards action though? Yeah, that's a little ridiculous.
EDIT: It's also kind of funny because people bashed GT4 when it came out because it wasn't enough like Forza (i.e. no online multiplayer and no damage)
Man, I'm waiting to get home from work and fire this up. There's one thing that's driving me nuts, though, and that's what region to start as. If I go for Europe, I have a chance (if the Prima Guide is right) at getting my hands on that 914/6, which I've been a big dork for since the PC version of NFS: Porsche Unleashed. But I also want to build a garage full of old-school muscle cars. If I start in the US, I can win a Camaro Z28 right away, and it'd probably be a lot easier for me to pick up that '68 Barracuda, but nabbing a Skyline (much less a 2000GT) might be hard. And if I pick Japan (which would let me start with a '92 Supra, a personal favorite), I doubt I could easily get muscle cars or Euro sports cars. Is it difficult to buy cars from outside your region? Will I get gouged by the auction house?

I might have to think about getting this... just for the decal editor.
