I kiiiiinda see what reggie's saying with am2r being a commercial product, despite being free, because it's "driving the direction of the ip"
but also it could only do that because nintendo didn't do dick with the ip for six years, and it feels weird to consider it a commercial product just because people liked it way more than federation force
Since Kwoaru asked in the last topic and I've had more time:
Master Mummy is the Ganondorf of ARMS. He's big, slow, cannot dodge for shit (so you either punch grabs or angle your vault perfectly or they WILL get you) and he has some matchups that are just depressingly bad for him (Ninjara, Twintelle, probably Min Min). That said he's also way better than Ganondorf because he can straight up trade blows with fools and never even feel it, able to put out so much damage and take a reduced amount in turn that if he can just slug it out with the enemy then he can win. But in a game that relies so much on the ability to dodge, I'm not sure how well his power works.

MM is the second worst fighter after Mechanica. Only reason why he's better is he does more damage per throw and has the block regen.
The bigs right now don't have enough upside to justify their downsides.. they need a buff.
Mechanica's extended dodges and ability to fly, I think, would make her better than Master Mummy, but I'll need to do some more playing to figure that out

Theyre not that great tbh.. shes still a massive target.
I do love Master Mummy's ending in Grand Prix a lot (also he can beat the holy living dog shit out of Max Brass and Hedlok, at least as the AI plays them)

Man, Disgaea 5 is real cool, but there's so much fucking shit in it, it's kinda overwhelming at times!
I felt that way about disgaea 1 and I think they've bolted new systems on to those games with every iteration so I can't even comprehend how much system cruft there is in there now

Yeah, I haven't even gotten to item world stuff, but I've gotten quests, squads, interrogations... And I think there's some kind of mechanic to visit/invade other netherworlds?
They do a pretty decent job of explaining things, but holy shit there's just so much.

I've spent pretty much any free time in the past couple weeks playing it and 90% of that is Item World. Been at least one week since I looked at y touched the story

In all seriousness, I actually kinda want to see Mario toss a grenade, blow up the cover and kill a couple of rabbids. It's just a real dumb image, and I don't think we've seen grenades yet?

Yeah, once I get the Item World I'm probably gonna spend a lot of time there.
Do you know when you unlocked it? I'm in chapter 3 right now, just unlocked interrogations and stuff.
When Max Brass lands I think he's going to be the best heavy by a pretty wide margin, if not one of the better characters period
He has the heavy thing where he takes half damage when dodging, jumping, or attacking, but he also dodges a pretty decent distance. And when his arms are charged, all of his punches cause explosions. And he has Spring Man's thing where when he drops below 25% health his stuff is always charged

That's a really powerful kit
Fwiw it's possible the playable version of him will be a bit weaker than the boss version

yes this is pretty standard for fighting games who get playable bosses so don't bet on player-max brass being like that
Well, we'll see, but Boss Brass isn't really any more powerful than other characters, he's just controlled by pretty decent AI. I expect him to play more or less like he is in the Grand Prix
Now if we got Hedlok I would expect some player nerfing

I WAS GOING TO MAKE THIS THREAD

that's pretty part and parcel for NiS games though!
Soul Nomad is utterly insane with the amount of shit you can do off one save file.
I can't play it with other people in the room
It's just too embarrassing
I worried it might fall a little flat but so far I've never had any trouble getting a full party lobby
