So I live in Dallas and the first Saturday of every month there is a sidewalk sale/swap meet for all kinds of electronics and other junk. It has been going on since 1969. Well I haven't been in a while and I am in need of some cheap electronics. Vendors arrive around 6 pm on Friday and continues till around 11 am Saturday, best times to buy are Friday around 10 pm to Saturday around 3am.
So I was thinking any PAers in Dallas and dont have something to do Friday night through Saturday morning could meet up and buy cheap tax free electronics, plus you can haggle. Here is the website Anyone interested post here or PM me.
So what swap meet/bazaars are in your area, and what is the strangest thing you have bought at one?
Didnt we already have this? Is it free comic book day every saturday where you live? Also there could be people there with comics they sell all kinds of stuff, mostly electornics but you could sell your hand made pottery if you wanted to.
Lately I've been snagging some computer stuff at garage sales. I found this computer at a garage sale a few weeks ago. They lady said it didn't work and said it would cost $5. I said I wasn't going to pay that much and she said two bucks. Just as I was walking away she said "$1". I turned around and bought it. 5 hours later I'd sold the thing to someone for $20.
Last weekend this lady (who was actually the mom of one of my sister's friends) was giving away the computer at her garage sale so I picked it up. It's a junky ass old thing running Windows 95. So far I haven't been able to unload it on anybody and I can't get a mouse working on it. I am very disappointed.

Get a USB mouse, drop some random Linux onto it, drop a big HDD into it and you got yourself a media center.

What's the advantage to having a media center PC? Also, with the 133 mhz processor and 16 MB of RAM it's going to be kind of tough to play most videos.

you'll be lucky if the motherboard would even support a hard drive large enough to use it as a media center, but you could easily turn it into a file and print server for the whole house, if you wanted.
