That bridge across the sky was a terrible idea that didn't get punished and I've killed a lot of people by just shooting the support like his teammates were worried about.
But building is incredibly valuable and you can easily throw up more walls than people have ammunition to shoot through.
Anyone who crashed in StS should have gotten equivalent rewards.
Hoard bash is going to be talked about more next week.
"Will you address class balance?" "We know Ninjas, Outlanders, and Constructors are garbage. We have a scaling issue with attributes and how they affect abilities at the top level play. Until we can resolve that, it is hard to balance abilities and such. Changes have to be fully thought out before as it will affect low end a lot.
"Capped Rain is an issue/Rain is used in too high quantity" StS lowered amount of Rain needed and more changes to this system will occur as time goes on. Events will give a lot of upgrade materials (such as we saw with StS).
"Canney Valley quest line?" The upper end content dwarfs what we have released up to this point. This takes a lot of time to deliver and it is being worked on. Until then, events will tell a bit of the story as well. We're not sure if we can get players that passed that story point to experience the eventual story portions once we add them.

Just started playing this thanks to the free Battle Royale.
Ending up #5 on my second try isn't too bad, right?

I wish they would improve this screen, considering how much I had to go through to get to it. Now I've got an umbrella instead of a glider!

Added everyone on the spreadsheet, I think. I don't have PvE, but would be very much interested in some PvP squadding with actual voice chat, if people are up for that.

I fucked up real bad tonight during a squad game. Was dropping in to the town northwest of Loot Lake with my squad, but thought I saw that nobody was headed to the docks on the lake, so I decided, "I'll hit the docks real quick and then run straight into town," and opened my glider earlier than I planned. Turns out there were some other people headed to the docks, so I turned real quick and hit the island on the lake. There was a loot chest in the attic, but somebody got there just before I did and I saw them grab a purple sniper rifle, so I jumped down to the porch, figuring I was probably about to die.
Found a grenade launcher and managed to survive the in-house battle, but about that time the rest of my squad apparently all went down in the town. I took the roof off the building and built myself a little ramp sanctuary where I could watch the entire lake with my sniper rifle. Ended up dying in the top ~15 IIRC when the zone finally cut the lakehouse out and I had to run for it.
Lesson learned: If you're thinking anything that ends with, "...and then I'll meet up with the team," you won't.

Got my first victory tonight, but when I screenshotted it and pasted it into GIMP, apparently it just screenshotted the loading screen instead? Anyway, shit was really intense. I had zero kills, but did a lot of cover destruction and area denial via grenade launcher + sniper rifle. I'm not sure if I fired my AR or my shotgun the entire round.
Thought we were done for when I saw the other fully-remaining team had a completely metal base built in the center of the zone, but we managed to hold out and get 2 more lucky zones that forced them to move out with us.

Had a really hilarious thing happen tonight during a solo round. Found a ceiling zapper and a wall dynamo in the building I dropped to, along with an AR and a few bullets. First circle included my location, so I decided to wait. Put the zapper above the front door to the building, closed all the doors, and waited in the upstairs bedroom with the wall dynamo facing the bedroom door.
As the circle came in, I heard footsteps approaching the front of the house. First fast, then slow. Heard the front door open, and then close again. Footsteps moved around to the back of the house. Heard the back door open...and the second ceiling zapper I'd found in the shed out back triggered, killing the poor bastard.
3 traps from one location, what a round to be alive.
(Unfortunately, I had a really laggy connection, so I only made it to #6 despite waiting out the bulk of the casualties. Stuttering gameplay is the worst for actually aiming at anyone.)

Having tried out the free Battle Royal - so just how good is the PVE part these days, really?
"now I've got this mental image of caucuses as cafeteria tables in prison, and new congressmen having to beat someone up on inauguration day." - Raiden333
It all starts in a staging area. You’ll have unlimited time, but limited resources to build a portable horde fort. Once you've designed the perfect fort, exit the staging area and party with up to three friends. Your forts will be ready for action when your team hits the ground. As you survive, you’ll receive more resources and more rewards to Challenge The Horde.
Scavenger Event
With the new update comes a new event llama. The Scavenger Llamas holds four new Heroes, nine weapons, two new Defenders. Earn the Scavenger currency by completing quests and playing the new Challenge The Horde mode. The Scavenger weapon set is delicate, but they’re all cheap to craft.
New Heroes
Introducing Scavenger Heroes with new, never-before-seen perks.
Raider Soldier - Loves the shotgun and close encounters.
Ammo Harvest Outlander - If you need ammo, this is your Hero.
Trap Specialist Constructor - Get a damage boost & durability boost.
Energy Thief Ninja - Generates and leeches energy from melee combat.
And More!
Along with modes, weapons, defenders and Heroes … the update includes over 25 new progressions quests with rewards that range from Scavenger tickets to Legendary items!

Apparently it doesn't start until Thurday 10/5, sorry about that. Not sure why they ended STS several days early.
To give us a break from the game since it isn't worth it without the storm rewards per mission.
Yeah, and because the Horde Bash mode recommends you to bring a defender along, I decide to try to level one up, but getting those 40 drops of rain is suddenly very painful...

My game frequently stutters and lags, even though 1) my internet connection is reasonably fast, and 2) my ping seems to stay consistent when it's doing this vs. when it's not. Some nights I can't play at all, it's so bad.
Is this just server-side bullshit? I had the same problem with Overwatch last night, though, so I'm wondering if it's something wrong with me/my connection.
So I've been away from the game since like two weeks after release.
Have they toned down mob pathing and made mazing more palatable? I remember that being a major disappointment that I could make these cool tower defense mazes and enemies would just pound through walls.

Not that I've noticed, no. You can get them to zig-zag through a two-tile wide maze, but the spawns and path have to be favorable for it, otherwise the husks usually try to bust out of the sides of the maze to bypass it. Regular trap corridors often work, though.

Actually ran a speed test again tonight instead of just relying on memory of previous tests. Turns out I was getting ~1 Mbps down. Contacted Comcast, and after troubleshooting, I'm now getting ~10 Mbps.
The plan we're on at this apartment is supposed to be 300.
They're crediting my bill for a week's worth of service and sending a technician out Friday morning to fix it. But tonight, I was actually able to get some games in on the ~10 connection, and boy howdy is this game way more fun when you can actually sprint instead of just rubberbanding back constantly.
Horde Bash is pretty fun and makes you rethink your strategies a bit.
So you start with a console that contains a few materials, and you have to build your fort in a 3x3x2 high area.
Then you start a Horde Bash game, where you can vote on which difficulty you want to play.
You then enter a map with 4 forts, and you get a few materials.
Note: few materials.
From those materials you have to make traps and weapons. Which means I had to make the starter sword, because I am running around with legendary malachite stuff.
I was able to craft my scavenger assault rifle, not to use myself but to give to my 2 star defender.
And yes, that defender was needed starting from wave 8. Then a lot of monsters are getting spawned.
I think the total of 10 waves were about 30-45 minutes in total.
You also have a set of missions that will grant you each of the 4 new heroes in purple form, which means everyone can get new heroes, which is good. There's also a looping mission which says "complete 2 mutant storms" but grants you a choice of 8 rain or 4 lightning or 2 eyes of storm. So you can choose what you need.
The Scavenger Assault rifle is a single tap rifle, so prepare for tired fingers (or give it to your defender).
Essential tips:
- bring along a defender
- if the defender has something like "12% not to consume ammo", that is really useful
- even if you don't like defenders, grab a pistol defender, you can always craft your atarter pistol, drop that and drop ammo for it.
All in all, a very nice mode which makes the game feel a bit different, especially when you get attacked by 8 lobbers and realise you had so little materials that you base hasn't got a roof yet
It's one of those times where you want a ninja, specifically one of the dragon slash focused ones, so they can throw it out on cooldown to clear all the trash.
I don't own Fortnite proper, but I played the free Battle Royale mode last night on my PS4. Seemed pretty good, though the controls are a little weird (don't really like switching weapons with a combination of tapping/holding triangle, depending on what you want). I've only watched PUBG, never played it (no gaming PC), so I knew the basics of how the mode worked but was pretty bad at actually playing it. Waiting to jump out the plane flying bus until halfway across the island and then flying down as far off the flight path was a surefire way to see no one on the map and stumble into a top 25 finish (actually managed to get to the top 5 when the shack I was turtled up in was in the circle). Of course, that strategy didn't teach me how to shoot or survive or anything and I'd get killed as soon as I encountered another person. My last run, I jumped out right away, found a shotgun, and managed to kill 3 or 4 people before remembering about the circle and getting sniped while sprinting away from the blue purple.

It definitely seems way easier to accidentally get into the top ~30 in this than in PUBG. I suspect it's because the island is so much smaller, that the initial chaotic kill-fest claims a larger portion of the players in the first couple minutes. Frequently I'll be finishing up my initial looting and look over to realize we're down to about 40 players already.

Nooo! Sorry I missed it. It's the only time Ninjas get to feel like big men/women (and still die horribly if you misjudge your energy/health).

It was early in the morning before work and we logged on to check the update, only to see the llama changed. I did actually check the friend's list to see if you were on but I suddenly HAD to clear it NOW because LLAMA.
I'm very not impressed with the tedious nature of progression in this new mode.
All of these starting missions to advance in the challenge the horde are super boring; especially since it looks like you need to run the same level repeatedly over and over.
Edit: though I guess the storm mods are back on some of the normal missions, so there's that. Bonus rewards on those can be nice especially when it's rain drops.
Super secret edit: and it looks like there's some crash going around again as a couple of the pugs I am with are dropping and returning in the last few rounds. And yes, I am typing some of this on the forums as I play the mode, that's how bored i am.
Ultra super secret edit: I assume I did get super lucky on a llama pull though, so I got one of them new legendary energy thief mara's. I may slap her on squad for the energy gain on melee bonus and take my shuriken master sarah out of retirement. I probably won't even need to craft a weapon beyond a sword and a "oh crap" rocket launcher or something.
So I have to play through a bunch of missions at low levels in the new mode, where I'm scaled down, and won't get any exp, just to get to stuff that I'll benefit from? Like 10 hours of just slogging through stuff, or more depending on my level?

Yes, that's what it seems like. I super unmotivated to do it, just making me do the lowest power level content is just so meh.

I've played through two sessions of the new mode now... I really need to level up my blue rifle for this mode, at least until I unlock more crafting mats. Every bullet counts, and a strong melee weapon goes a long way.

Playing Ninja through the hours and hours of the starting difficulty of the new mode will help a lot but honestly this game mode is about 5 waves too long.
Also, it seems we are super limited in how many storm missions we can get extra rewards for per day.
Can't say I'm enjoying the event, even though the idea of bringing in a pre-built base was fun up until the bullshit with schematics and never-ending waves giving non-existent rewards.
