Help me remember an old-school pulp hero's name!

At least I think it was pulp-era, anyway.

He dressed sort of like a pilgrim (think Ichabod Crane), fought ghosts with sheer courage, had a rapier. Sort of like a dorkier Van Helsing type guy?

I want to say that the material involving him was published around the same time Conan the Barbarian was, but at this point I can't remember at all.

Any ideas?

I was trying to google every combination of "Pulp novel" and "Witch hunter" I could come up with.
Main results where the Vin Diesel movie and a series of WarHammer novels.

Oh my god, right? Try "buckle hat and shoes pulp hero," you'll find out people still buy hats and shoes with buckles. A lot of them, apparently. "pilgrim fights ghosts" and similar gets you a lot of Scott Pilgrim.

I think there was a reboot of Solomon Kane done by Dark Horse about a decade back if you're looking for more stuff with the character

There was even a 2009 film with James Purefoy (Mark Anthony from HBO's Rome).
