Worth their wieght in gold!

Some one at PAX someone on one of the panels said that in the game industry a good 3D modeler is worth their wieght in gold. They also said if you can learn software fast that you're an easy hire.

My friend, for 11 years, is just that and then some. However, right now he is working in a Dude's house who is using him and not paying him nearly enough. The "Dude" is a liar sleezbag user etc etc.

My friend says he doesn't have time to wait around for a reply to his resume if he posts it online.

So I figure if those proffesionals say that this guy, my friend, is worth his wieght in gold there should be a way to get him out of that bad situation.

I don't know, I feel like if I had brought him to PAX MAYBE he would have found some offers. But he was on the other side of the country.

This is serious.

Also if this would be better somewhere else please tell me.

Not a mod or anything, but I would say that this belong in G&T more than in the PAX thread.

How can I move it there?

Can I make copies and put them in other forums or is that not allowed?

there are plenty of job openings for modlers usually. 1 way to check is going to a site like www.gamasutra.com, checking thr job listings and then going to that company's site to check out the actual job posts.

the main suggestions from the panalists was to keep on plugging away, actually calling the places and trying to get known by them so that they could have you in mind.
