The new forums will be named Coin Return (based on the most recent vote)! You can check on the status and timeline of the transition to the new forums here.
The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
We should start using www.the100.io to organize fireteams. The G&T thread folks use it a lot and it works well. Basically you post a time you want to do something (raid/nightfall/etc) and whatever relevant details, and people can see that and join up. Makes it easy to see if there's interest to do something at a set time and then provides an easy way to get in touch with each other without playing forum telephone.
Okay, Singularity Engine/SE++ exists now, if anyone can figure out Bungie's interface and try to join I'll approve you, send me a PM if you'd like otherwise I'll check periodically
I'll probably make a bunch/most people admins as well so they can approve too
Edit: alternately if anyone wants an invite, add me as a friend on PSN if we aren't already (Fearghaill there as well) and send me a PM
Different strokes, I guess
Dink sounded to me like he was about to take a nap in almost every line
I DO think the Moon Wizard line is pretty good though
There's a side quest in Destiny 1 where you fight all the way back out to the spot outside the cosmodrome where Ghost first found you
And you fuck up this Fallen ketch and you look out over the plain and Ghost tells you this story about how he was so scared out there and he was about to give up and then he found you, he was your Ghost and you his Guardian, and now you've come all this way and done all these great things together, and he's so happy that that was possible
And it's really good! He's adorable! And I wasn't crying shut up you were crying
Here's what will get me way more onboard with the world of Destiny than a 90 minute explainer
Tell me your favorite bit of Destiny lore
There is/used to be a race of giant reality-changing powerful space dragons that humanity made deals with to stay alive after the Collapse, which we then hunted to extinction so we didn't have to pay them back. There are several items made out of their bones that say they still talk to you despite being dead for hundreds of years.

Hm. Do you want some longer story thread across multiple grimoire cards, or can something that's just from one grimoire card suffice?
And I'm assuming we're disqualifying the Books of Sorrow or else that'll be everyone's answer.
What is you guy's favorite weapon names in Destiny 1?
I quite like some of the vendor guns like The Trolly Problem or The Palnidrome
I know it's two guns, but in vanilla there was a really good hand cannon called The Devil You Know. Every expansion they replaced the vendor weapons you could buy, and they replaced TDYK with a mediocre/bad hand cannon called The Devil You Don't.
And in Destiny 2 there's another really good one called Better Devils.
OK, so that simplifies it a bit since the Hive are weird and spooky, but Oryx was originally a female Hive being known as Aurash, who then became Auryx as him and his sisters waged war to take over the Osmium throne, and then Oryx after he killed his patron, the god Akka the Worm of Secrets.
+2

This thread title is a filthy lie
EDIT: Also that Waypoint article is 100% correct but people can't like a character unless it's irreverent and quipping at them
Despite my intention to work my way to the grimoire at some point, I never actually did. Still blows my mind how poorly it was integrated into the game (in that it wasn't integrated at all). I guess I'll see if the new game has a codex or something with all the old/new stuff, otherwise I'll just go to a site transcription

Weapons and armor in Destiny 2 have lore tabs you can pull over and read
And I believe there are more scannable spots in each world that give additional lore
There are no more Grimoire cards

Deluxe Edition - is it worthwhile? What do you get extra, and is it anything you can obtain later? Anyone know if you can upgrade to Deluxe later?
Preorder - I think there was a note about the preorder items only being exclusive through the end of the yer, right?
PS4 to PC - Did they say anything about being able to migrate your account to PC later?
I'm sorry but you are wrong, Dinklebot forever.
It's a charitable read of the performance but I will never be convinced Dinklage ever gave a shit about that job
Oh my, the smug in that article is so thick it's kicking up my allergies.
"I'm here to drop some truth bombs" oh fuck right off.

I got the ones who posted their name before this post, but I'm not going to read every post
The Book of Sorrows is exactly my kind of overwrought nonsense and totally my jam.

Tell me some stuff about Destiny that is cool

Oryx is canonically FtM transgender.
