What was the distinction of the circular part of the Enterprise and the part that was not the circular part of the Enterprise
Like, sometimes they detached one from the other and it really seemed like the non-circular part was pretty routinely shafted
Were
Were there people down there
No, the people were in the circular section.
They disconnected and sent the circular part to safety while the lower section (engineering and science spaces, mostly) would continue in whatever unsafe situation existed with only the bare minimum necessary crew
with engineering presumably screaming obscenities at the departing circular section

i wish turning off autocorrect were a better option than leaving it on
starfleet: balks at Cardassins not having secondary backups; runs conduits of energetic plasma through every touchscreen that can explode whenever the ship is hit by enemy weapons
Things to be happy about today: Everything Megyn Kelly touches at NBC dies. Now her Today show spot is tanking in the ratings.
so she'll go back to her old ways at Fox?

Room temperature take: I get kind of exhausted with the deeply lazy conflation of "capitalism" with "everything bad ever" but I also cannot imagine pitching a fit over the existence of Communist memes, especially in the current climate

It's not a fucking answer to a captured regulatory state you children
They killed more people than the Nazis
Ah, but how many people has capitalism killed?
congrats on being a semi-woke anti-cap
A bit seriously, it is horrendously offensive to me when the suggestion is made that capitalism and the pursuit thereof hasn't led to the needless death, impoverishment, slaughter, and occasional genocide of millions and millions of people in the pursuit of greater profits.
The Americas weren't colonized because Europe was running out of room, you understand. They were, much like Africa, colonized because empires and trade companies recognized the potential to reap untold wealth from these "unoccupied" lands.
Except, don't you dare ever fucking forget, they weren't unoccupied.
Between the continents of Africa, North and South America, and Asia, western imperialism and trade companies contributed to the deaths, either indirectly or violently directly, to the deaths of hundreds and hundreds of millions of indigenous people.
And if you seek to sweep that under the rug because it happened a few centuries ago, or because that form of capitalism isn't identical to the form that exists today, I kindly ask you to go fuck yourself.
Communism and the conversion thereto led directly or indirectly to the deaths of hundreds of millions of people, no one's disputing that. But if you dare suggest that the systems that existed beforehand somehow had no blood on their hands, on behalf of all of my ancestors, sincerely ... get educated. Please.
Please.
I would call that imperialism, and not capitalism, because it predates capitalism by a lot. I am not sweeping anything under any rug, I'm just saying, capitalism is the wrong word.
And most of those people were killed for religious and tribal reasons not financial. Manifest destiny!
I can accept, if not necessarily agree, with Abdhy's distinction, but I don't think I can do the same here. This is a strictly American (the nation) view, which I think largely ignores what happened basically anywhere the Spanish found gold, or basically anywhere any European power found spices.
Those were financial decisions, and choosing the convenience of ignoring the existence of indigenous people made the exploitation of the wealth a great deal easier and a great deal deadlier.
not calling it capitalism is not saying it is not financial it is just making the point: capitalism did not exist when the americas were first colonized.¨Mercantilism is different, and produced pretty different motivations for getting colonies than happened later.
I can accept that. But I would like to, nonetheless, reassert my point that even modern capitalism has a great deal of blood on its hands.

Jake you'd better refrigerate this take before it goes bad
Also I've been assuming people were eating hot takes as soon as they came out of the oven. Is this not the case?

The disc was the housing, science office space and bridge.
The other part was engineering, the shuttle bays, the brig (I think), the torpedo bay and the wapr engines. The shafted part could still go very fast and fight!
With this information, it really seems like the disc was heavily crippled upon detachment! But I'm pleased to hear that the non-disc people were probably quite safe, at least.
It had the phaser banks.
The phasers rarely seemed useful, though :P
Google, how you not gonna recognize phaser as a word. You were made by nerds, you coward!

The Disc section would be safer but it'd drift without warp until someone came and picked them up
It still has communication and impulse engines. It's not completely useless. They won't be leaving the area they are in, but it's not like they'll die alone.
Bramble was to ensure good consonant sounds while being distinct from Talisker and coincidentally is a cocktail
These are top tier kitten names
Bramble was the harder name to come up with. His name was going to be Arbuckle after the band NQ Arbuckle, but after the third person who responded with, "Oh, like that actor?" Mrs Rhesus decided that she wanted a name that wasn't synonymous with a guy she'd never heard of.

No Querry just didn't like Locust because despite what I mentioned yesterday, she doesn't actually like insects.
Well actually that's not true, her gchat picture is a bee and she likes bees and oh god I just put two things together and need to go lie down...

But then I just have to spend the money to go burn flags in secret to balance it out!
also demand he touches his nose every time he says the word of the day, if not he has to take a shot
I have a lot of questions about what Sniper is streaming, suddenly.
the price of popularity
I mean the ratio of times I call cat her real name to times I call her something else is really skewed in favor of the denominator
