Kpop groups love putting out dance practice videos to show off their live performance skills in a way that music videos don't. But the actual dancing varies a great deal, based on the group's concept, their budget, and their dancing skills. Presented with analysis, a rising scale of dance practice video ridiculousness.
Twice is kind of a girl crush group for younger teens, so even though several of their members are graduates of dance schools, all of their dances are super easy to do. And they usually lip sync their performances, too.
Strengths: Well, they've spoken publicly in support of LGBT issues, and Cheer Queer Up was the anthem of the 2017 Seoul gay pride parade. So they're good people. And their music videos are funny...
Weaknesses: Kind of... Everything else? They're just not that interesting... When you think of stereotypical asian girl group dance sequences, Twice is basically what's in your head.

Mamamoo is a retro style vocals-focused group whose trademarks are their strong personalities and voices, they never do lip sync'd performances. Dancing... Not so much of a focus. It's not that they can't, they just don't care.
Strengths: Actually seem like they're having fun, do all their own choreography, charismatic
Weaknesses: Keep forgetting that they're supposed to be filming a dance practice video, terrifyingly high heels

Teen Pop is a visual-focused boy group that have changed their concept like a dozen times. I guess they would make sense if i was a teenage Korean girl.

Weaknesses: This is channeling way too much Party Rock Anthem. And whenever they're not in the dance breaks they're just kind of bopping along?

BTS is one of the most popular boy band groups, with aggressive, tight choreography and charismatic rappers. Not to sound like a hipster, but they're surprisingly good for how popular they are.
Strengths: A very masculine, aggressive dancing style, but they can get fancy occasionally too
Weaknesses: Although their choruses are often lip sync'd, they prefer to do their rapping live, so their choreo is limited to what their rappers can perform.

GFriend is a cute, innocent girl group concept. They communicate this innocent girlishness with emotionless, machine-like perfect choreography.
Strengths: It's not like it's the hardest moves, but dang if they're not always flawless at it.
Weaknesses: They're kind of a black hole of personality, and innocent girl group concepts are gross. Also, they're so precise it's sort of creepy.

NCT is a group created basically from a reality show, even by the super-corporate standards of the kpop world NCT is manufactured as fuck. There's actually multiple NCT groups, this is NCT 127, who've had more reality TV series than album releases. And yet... they're actually not bad?
Strengths: With a group this expertly produced it's not like you need superb vocal talent anyway, so they just got a bunch of dance kids. They're a bit more to the "interpretive dance" side of kpop dances
Weaknesses: You kinda feel like a corporate shill just engaging with them. And they've only got like, a few songs anyway.

Weirdly, 24k actually started as an entirely different group, an acoustic pop band called 4k. When that didn't work out, 3 of the members moved on to a new 7 man group named 24k, who are more about like, music you grind to at a club. So lots of dancing, nooot so much live performance.
Strengths: They didn't start off training as dancers, but they can really dance!
Weaknesses: They all look like evil anime boyfriends. Their songs are, as you'd expect of dance music, kind of repetitive, and their dances tend to be too.

Seventeen are a big 13 member boy group who (supposedly anyway) have a lot of control over their own lyrics and choreography. Different subsections of the group manage their music, lyrics, and performance.
They're also one of the gayest of the boy groups, at least in terms of fanservice.
Strengths: They can pretty much do anybody else's choreography and more. They're not just precise, they stay fun and original through the whole song.
Weaknesses: They're uh, they're pretty dang good? The music they're dancing to is pretty mediocre pop though.

Speed only lasted 2 years (they were disbanded in 2015), they were barely promoted, and basically no one mourned their passing at the time. But they've gotten a lot of appreciation since because jesus christ their choreography was super creative, mixing in unique concepts and gymnastics.
Strengths: How the fuck do you even learn to do that choreography without everyone breaking their faces?
Weaknesses: They do lean a bit too hard on the fancy trick over actually contributing to the message of the song itself. And you're not exactly gonna be copying these moves...

Hah yeah economist-chan and I have discussed this at length (...she made me watch Sixteen) and yeah TWICE's whole concept/identity is just...fresh and youthful and sporty? And they've got basically nothing else going on. Maybe as they get older they'll figure out how to frame themselves differently, or split into smaller groups or something. (For example--Chaeyoung is a legit rapper and composes her own songs. And in every TWICE song she gets like...a line of rapping because she splits it with Dahyun...? But she could do her own thing pretty well, or group up with a couple of the others....?)
I've seen videos of a few music shows where occasionally they wear all black and have a slightly sexier act, but not much more, really.
And yes they're really not gay at all, are they. Junyeong has short hair but in a chic femme way.
