Might I have mono?

Okay, first thing - I am seeing the doc tomorrow, but wondering as to your opinions - never hurts to have some idea before I go!

I have basically been feeling like I am dying for the past few days.

My fiance noticed slightly swollen glands on my neck on the weekend, and we were a bit worried but since I wasn't feeling sick we didnt worry too much. Fast forward to Tuesday night, where I start feeling really ill and achy, and went to bed hoping a good night's sleep would fix it. Woke up feeling even MORE fatigued, slept until 1, and basically did activities that used as little movement as possible (ie reading), or else required concentration that would block the pain (the really intricate embroidery that I normally do) which could both be done either in a comfy chair or my bed. I figured it might be the flu or something so I just let it pass.

Today I woke up feeling even worse than yesterday, with a sore throat and massive headache (neither of which have gone away) and it hurts to walk at all. I have been drinking lots of water and juice and staying warm, but I feel really really gross. My underarms, the back of my legs, my neck and the back of my tongue also really hurt.

Fiance and I are catching the bus to the doc's tomorrow (I don't have a car, neither does he - poor students - and my parents are both working) to find out what he thinks.

tldr:
I feel really really shite with symptoms that resemble those of mono, could it be something other than mono and if it is mono, what do you recommend I do? (other than seeing doctor)

Thanks

It certainly could be mono, but of course only a test can tell you for sure.

When I had it, the doc said it was just a virus and prescribed anti biotics. DO NOT let the doctor give you antibiotics without a mono test!
This is because they can't do anything for it - all they will do is give you a very nasty rash that itches like crazy.

I reccomend total bed rest and lucozade. Remember, if it is mono, you wont be able to do any excercise for a few weeks afterwards, eve nwhen you do start to feel fine again. And let yourself sleep more than usual.

don't let the doctor give you antibiotics for a goddamn virus, either. Antibiotics are for bacterial infections. If your doctor is giving you random pills to get you on your merry way, they are incompetent.
