It appears that I will be down in Atlanta at the end of May for a business trip. Do we have any Atlantans in this here hizzy? I'll be arriving sometime in the afternoon/evening on Tuesday May 29 and will probably be free the rest of that day and also on Wednesday night after my meeting is over.
Who wants to show The Geek some good ol' fashioned southern hospitality?
UPDATED INFO:
So here is what I've gathered so far for what our plans may be:
Tuesday the 29th:
My flight arrives 4ish in Atlanta. I will take a shuttle to the Holiday Inn Airport North and check in.
Stale has offered his place to hang out on Tuesday night for gaming and such. Sounds like he's got a killer setup, so it should be fun.
People who have expressed interest in going to Stale's:
Myself, Sars_Boy, Aneurhythmia, TDL, SA, Kovak, Tardcore
TDL hs offered to give me a ride on Tuesday from my hotel to Stale's and back again. However, he may not get off work until 6pm, and it'd be probably about 1:45 to complete the trip. So us two probably wouldn't get there until 8 or so. I'm cool with staying fairly late, I'll just caffiene it up on Wednesday morning for my meeting.
Wednesday the 30th:
I have a work meeting until 5pm in the same hotel where I'm staying, so I'll be there again in the evening. I don't know for sure if there are plans for the second night at this point, and I don't want to mooch off Stale too much, so if anyone has any ideas, I'm down. Perhaps we can all go out to dinner somewhere. Any recommendations? People have been saying I should have some good authentic southern BBQ.
TDL will also be able to give me a ride this day.
Thursday the 31st:
My meeting goes until noon that day, and my flight leaves at 4. They always say to be at the airport a good 2 hours before the flight for check in and security and such. So that leaves about 2 hours for me to kill.
Sars_Boy may be able to score some tickets for us to the brand spankin' new Coca-Cola museum. He says he will be out of school that day, so I can probably bum a ride off him from my hotel to the museum and then to the airport afterward. Even if he can't get free ones, I think I would still like to go. Tickets are 15 bucks at the door.
Looks like I don't have a ride to the museum and since I have to catch a flight, I don't know if I'd want to depend on public transportation. Any volunteers?
I don't know who all of you would even be able to attend that day due to work/school obligations, so let me know and I will update.
If I have missed anyone or anything, please let me know and I will add the info to the first page post. If anyone has any suggestions for any of these days, also let me know.

but maybe you could manage to kick them in the balls to get it done
georgia
As it turns out, that's where my plane is landing.
possibly with 2 others in tow
So there's not much to do in Atlanta other than just go to a bar? That's too bad. Cuz, y'know, I don't drink.
Well, you'd hope so...
Well, I guess there's the new aquarium. I don't know when the new Coke museum(that's right, we get an entire museum dedicated to a soft drink) is supposed to open. Any commercial strip/neighborhood that people might hang out in is 80% bars. There are dozens of malls and movie theaters. But really, it's the South. We drink while waiting for death.
Also, it looks like the Coca-Cola museum opens shortly before I'm going down there.
I'm not really one for planning things however, as I generally just sit around and do jack shit.
I have a big comfy couch and a 52" TV with all the required consoles.
And a bunch of computers. and a very effeminate room-mate. and a lot of high-quality booze.
Come get me, I can go into bars now.

2 360's, a wii, a ps3, and a regular xbox, plus any game you could imagine. If we don't ahve it, we go buy it and tell work to pay for it. purely for testing purposes, of course.
the couch is leather
the booze is flowing.
I could buy you some pepsi or something.
Stale I'm coming over

I leave that up to the artiste.
awesome
Is that near you, Stale? Can I get a ride over?
EDIT: Sheri, are you being serious about possibly coming over to Georgia for this?
I live in Roswell, so the other side of the metro area. But we could probably arrange something or other.
I wish, hun. It's a state away, but not close enough.

I don't know how big the metro area is. Is that a long way?
maybe 30 mins... maybe 45 depending on traffic.
of course depending on ATL traffic, maybe 3 hours.......

My flight arrives on Tuesday at about 4, so I'll have pretty much all Tues and Wed evenings to hang out. I don't think they have any activities planned for us outside of the meeting.
I'll be leaving Thursday afternoon when the meeting is done.
He arrives at the beginning of rush-3-hour, so fuck that. I'd be on 400 forever. I don't get to leave the office until 6pm at the earliest anyway.
Marta is looking to be your best bet, however I've never used it, I tend to shy away from public transit. It frightens me. You should ask maybe SA, or Aneur, or Kov or TDL, see what they are up to, we could all get together somewhere. Plenty of places to both eat and drink around here on this side of ATL, but I wouldn't be opposed to traveling into ATL proper to get together.
I've only been here since March, so I'm not to well versed on things to do. Spent most of my time working.
I'm told that amazing BBQ awaits the traveler, but I've yet to partake.
yes!
all the truly remarkable BBQ will be found in bumblefuck, ga however... not the metro area
