Yeah, if you pick up a decent set (and you can find them for a third of either of those prices, I promise), you'll be equipped with enough tools to do most any job you can imagine you'd need a knife for. :)

Really just comes down to preference, and which enemy in World War II you ultimately have more respect for.

Yeah, for the now I'm looking for a single quality chef knife (maybe two, though Querry is perfectly happy with my current knife as long as I hone it every few weeks).

I basically just buy a victorinox every year or two when I decide my current one is too dull

For home cooking, a perfectly viable approach :P

I bought this because my knives were getting useless/dangerous, and I'm hopeless with a whetstone.

    It's fucking amazing.

One of those, paired with a half-decent honing steel, will keep anything above a bargain-bin knife in serviceable condition for quite some time, to be honest.

You can get fancier if you want, but often you don't need to, really.

One of the guys in my quartet has a sister who is getting a marriage license in all 50 states and re-marrying her husband in all 50 states, for some reason. I'm really not sure the legality of this (it sounded sketchy to me!), but it's an excuse to throw a wedding-like party in a different state every few months or so...

Wouldn't this result in 50 separate marriage licence filing fees?
Yup. Apparently, they don't give AF. They are collecting them like hunters collect trophies or something. It's definitely weird.

    How would a divorce work?
This was exactly what I said. In response, my quartet buddy just laughed and said "Oh, they aren't getting divorced..." and I'm like "But they could, you never know!" He seemed offended, so I dropped the subject, but I'd imagine that they'd have to get divorced in all 50 states, too? No idea.

See, I was dumb enough to do a destination wedding, so traveling to our wedding was meant to be people's gift to us, in lieu of actual gifts.

Which meant when the wedding fell through, everyone got to go on sweet vacations except for me and also I got zero gifts! :O

I don't know what to do with friends and family split across the country

    It's bullshit

Every time they do a census, they publish where the "population center" of the country is.

Have your wedding in that place.

It is literally the most fair way to do it.

Anyone who complains is selfish and uninvited.

I appreciate the uh, practical nature of this theory. But. The center is missouri. So... yeah.

    Did they...expect you to disagree?

I've heard my other coworkers upset because this person and the one in front of him tend to talk about games and geeky stuff a lot and so she was just mad we were discussing like star wars story elements and yeah I have no idea, other than of course getting to me feel embarrassed she was making a scene and go back to my desk so I guess uhh mission accomplished?

I had a coworker who'd get frustrated when me and another one would geek out over Firefly.

Turns out she was irritated that she had nothing to contribute to the conversation and felt left out.

I feel like this is a solvable problem.

Yeah talk about a good show... HEY YOOOOOO

Nah I don't think my coworker felt left out. What irks me is people talk about the seahawks all day and they do that irritating "we" thing that mitchell and webb made fun of years ago.

What's wrong with the collective we? We use it all the time!

Someone in the cooking thread mentioned Shun knives, so I typed that into Amazon and this was the second result: https://www.amazon.com/Shun-Classic-10-piece-Knife-Block/dp/B01M1O6GOX/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1510699549&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=shun&psc=1

[chat] I got a new game called GearCity that's all about starting your own car company in the year 1900 and my first attempt failed because I tried to be patriotic but it turns out in 1900 there weren't any people in Canada, let alone any people who could buy cars.

I might go easy mode and start in NYC or London, but I'm kinda feeling a Chicago pull too.

More important is probably designing an awesome first vehicle, but that part is much harder and I'm sure it'll take me 10 more failed starts before I begin to understand what people in the 1900s wanted in their automobile :P

A fairly long video(40 minutes) came out recently examining reviews and testimonials regarding CDPR's internal (mis)management.

It sounds a lot like they expanded way faster than they were equipped to handle and it's currently kind of a mess in there.

But every rpg should be witcher 3? How can the god devs be wrong on anything?

It sounds like the same shit where Mythic went from doing a cute little pvp MMO to HERE TAKE THESE FIVE HUNDRED DUMP TRUCKS OF MONEY AND BE BLIZZARD and they got in way over their heads

granted Witcher 3 is a masterpiece so cyberpunk whatever might be great at the expense of a pile of employee abuse

Nobody to blame but ourselves, really.

I guess for me I'm just bitter since I didn't particularly like witcher 3, and yet any rpg thread has people wanting every rpg to be it.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
