What's really impressive to me about that Rampage trailer is that I can't tell if they massively failed to grasp the purpose of the game.

You got giant animals breaking buildings in a rampage.
    What more do you want?

I mean, sure, in the game the giant animals turned into naked people when they died, but you can't have everything.

It's still looking closer to the source material than Battleship.

How can anything be closer to the source material than Battleship. It had a battleship and it had pegs, the only two components of the source. It's batting 1.000
