I'm picturing them walking only a few dozen meters before they run out of rope: "Ok, what now?"

iunno about birds, but legends say rope is Protokid's favourite vegetable

I love that last panel. It reminds of that one with the trio around the campfire with all of the cats.

I wonder what Linus wants to find?
Is there something or someone he left behind in the Deep Woods?
He was too afraid to step foot into it before, maybe he just has an explorer’s heart?
What lies beyond the edge of the forest? Could they even reach the end? It probably goes on for miles.
Will Malachi bring up finding a child-sized skeleton in a tree there?
    So many questions.
Maybe Linus just wants to conquer his fear and show to himself that his parents were wrong and that he is great? There’s no one else he could be.

this is starting to feel (it is not the same) like the never ending story in the swamp.

Ah! At first, before I had time to finish the comic and saw the las panel out of context, I thought the cats would indeed be eating the rope.

Then again, now that there isn't a single bird leftin there, they might resort to that.

    Stay tuned!

Into the dark deep woods they creep
What will they do when it's time to sleep?

So either his bag is some Hammer Space bag-of-holding thing...

Or he doesn't have THAT much rope.

For something that thick, I can't imagine his back carrying that much of it. Maybe if it was binder's twine or some thing nylon rope he could carry a lot.

On volume alone I doubt they could make it more than 50 or 100 meters before they have to decide to risk getting lost. But something that thick would probably be pretty dang heavy for a small kid to carry if it was that long.

I see the old Family Circus joke coming back. They will run back across the rope before they run out of rope.

What if the the deep deep woods are really a Land of the Lost type realm and the glowing eyes are all Protokids...

Linus has been told all his life that he wasn't good enough, much like Malachi. But where Malachi has responded by trying to prove that not only is he good enough, he is the best, Linus has retreated into solitude and fear.

But today, Linus is large and in charge. He is pushing past his fears and venturing into unknown and unsafe territory. I applaud his character growth but I think he should have started with something a bit safer...

This is why mythology is more important. A string would be lighter and longer than a rope.

Anyone else just thinking about what happens when you leave cats alone with any string-shaped object. (hint for non-cat owners scratching and tangling) p.s. love this comic and if i've predicted this right i will be so happy :)
