Scanners/fan translators doing that stupid weeaboo thing again pretending it can't be translated as 'comrades', 'friend(s)', 'allies', 'crew', 'gang', etc. depending on context.
That's kinda neat. Surely it will be banned for any boring competitive MLG play.
The fighting game scene is generally resistant to banning things unless it's unequivocally broken in some way (like that stupid beach stage in SF5, or that airplane stage because people literally got motion sick), and a major mechanic like this isn't going to be banned. The emphasis is adapting to crazy stuff instead of banning/patching it, although this is a pretty old-school mentality.
You look at the decades of dumb nonsense of MvC2 to see that in action.

Yeah look at Soul Calibur 2. Only like the absolutely stupid broken stuff Lizardman does with his command throw is banned. Shit like 2G and the wierd mitsu stance cancels are considered legit. It works out because a lot of them are so hard to do they just kind of let it be advanced tech.
Items are just the equalizer in party games. Someone terrible at smash can grab a hammer and go nuts, or get a legendary pokemon to pop out and now the scores are more evened up. Maybe not good for competitive, but good for groups with larger skill gaps.
I hope it's possible to go back and forth between Japanese and English voice acting in the game. I grew up on both versions, and I love em both.
The thing I would kill for is a DBZ abridged DLC voice pack, because I really struggle now to not hear all the characters with those voices. I know there's absolutely no way that is happening, though.

As would I, but alas t'is not to be.
This game is what, February? I should really start looking for a stick for my Xbox. I can't play fighters with a pad. (Well, I can't play them with a stick either, but at least it feels better.)

More seriously, I recently discovered a custom case maker that will also do hitbox layouts. I don't need a new one right now, but I'm sorely tempted to pick up a new metal case: http://allfightsticks.com/product/ready-ship-14-stickless-budgetbox-enclosure-sinbad If you're willing to shell out for a Brooks Universal board, it would even work on the more common FGC consoles when you go to locals.
what a reversal! while the entire soulcalibur community was busy proclaiming the end of the world after the project soul site went down, only to have a brand-new soulcalibur game come at them from out of the blue, the Dead or Alive fans were poised to receive an announcement for DoA 6 and instead got the news that Team Ninja is ending support for the games.

I've never built a stick before, but I've always wanted to learn. And a hitbox style seemed really neat. Might be a cool project.

They're going to pool all their resources into the new gaming "hotness"! A PUBG/KotH thing that the kids love.

It's not for everyone, but I love it, and my wife can basically only play on hitbox.

You can get a cheaper case from Art's Hobbies if AllFightSticks is too pricey.
Paradise Arcade has competitive prices on parts, and the staff is super helpful in person. You can also get ahold of them on Facebook..
I'm glad I shelled out extra for the Brooks Universal Board. It's not necessary, but I did end up playing on other consoles at events (XBone for KI, PS4 for SFV, PC at home).
Art's Hobbies:
* $58 bare box + S&H
* $90 Brook Universal PCB
* $35 wire harness
* $56.25 15x Sanwa Buttons
* $7.50 Neutrik Passthrough
* ~$5-$10 USB A/B Patch and USB cable from monoprice or whatever
+ S&H
Making your own sets you back about $250 + S&Hx2 - mostly the fault of the brook pcb - though you could probably save on the wire harness and/or xbox controller parts +crossbone if you're sadistic enough and have a welder. Building from scratch is actually more economical if you ever want to play on anything but xbox one. Also if you get tired of the hitbox, you can rebuild instead of buying a whole new stick.
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.

You know, I was saying earlier that single-console PCBs are cheaper than the Universal board, but I can't find a goddamn one for XBone! Everything I've seen is just pad hacks, and that's a fuckin' nightmare. I tried that for 360 and do not recommend.

DoA 6? Ni-Oh 2? New Ninja Gaiden?
What I saw indicated that the series is being put on hiatus. Not "we're ending support for DOA5," but "don't expect any DOA news for a while." But I imagine it'll be back once they figure out how to work loot boxes into the series.
Fans are freaking out because the character select screen has only 20 spaces on it. Minus the one new character, one guest character, random, create-a-character spots equals... only sixteen returning SoulCalibur characters? Well, we'll see. I'm personally fine with a small cast, but that partially because I know my main Taki is guaranteed a spot.
It's not for everyone, but I love it, and my wife can basically only play on hitbox.

Is any soldering required, or is it just a matter of plugging stuff into the PCB? I've assembled a couple PC's back in the day, and replaced the joystick and buttons in my old 360 Brawlstick before, so if there's no soldering involved I feel pretty okay about putting it all together.

If you get the brook pcb then no soldering is required. You do need a wire stripper and a small flathead screwdriver to wire everything up. I'd also suggest needle nose pliers

Modern PCBs often have screw terminals, so no solder required. However, some boards come in a bare metal version for more custom work, so make sure whatever board you buy is the type with screw terminals.
Like Paladin said, you'll need a wire stripper so you can get the bare metal into the terminal, but you should be able to handle everything else with your experience.

"Only" 20? Am I crazy, or is roster inflation getting out of control?
Is it even economically viable to release a game these days with an ST-sized roster?

From what I've seen it looks very much like SCV with SCIIs speed like they said.
Reversal Edge is nice looking but seems like it could overstay its welcome if it isn't able to be controlled in some way. That said even "winning" it doesn't seem to guarantee damage.
That said it did look like it had some exploitable patterns to it.

Though items do make shit random as hell I guess.

Also, OG DBZ outro is a great touch. The whole thing is FUCKING BEAUTIFUL.
edit: There we go, right at the start... I didn't fuck up anything!
