Double Pin Posts. When will the madness end?

I can understand large pins having two posts.
But the star from Mario?... really?

It seems that everything since West has had two posts?
Why?
Is there a reason why everything has 2 posts now?

I guess it stops them from turning upside down on your lanyard, and probably makes it less likely that one will accidentally fall off. I agree though that it seems like overkill for smaller pins.

I heard something about it being the new "manufacturing standard," but nevertheless it makes it incredibly annoying to take pins on and off trading bag pages, etc.

It bugs me because I want to wear a lot of these in my jacket lapels at work, but I don't actually want to put a hole in my suits/jackets. One pin can fit through the little hole that's often in the lapel. Two not so much.

I agree attachment/detachment is a bit of a pain but then they're just so damn sturdy. I can't resist a sturdy post.
