Safely disposing of aerosol canisters

I have a couple of AXE bodyspray cans (not empty) that I want to throw out - but I'm not sure if it's safe to just put them in trash.

What's the best way to go about this?

    Burn them with fire. Naw, just kidding. See if your city's got some sort of special dumping place. The place I'm at now just had a collection, uh, yesterday, for stuff you can't just throw away. Aeorsal cans was on the list.

    I want to commend you on how responsible you are for taking the precautions to dispose of this stuff correctly. I would have just thrown them in a trash.
