Anyone else getting a weird bug in the new Oblivion update?
That happened to me with the release version; so i don't think it has anything to do with the patch. I reinstalled and it worked fine, so you should be good there.
I do have a joypad adapter connected up which I have an N64 and Playstation dualshock joypads connected to.
I've reinstalled and it seems ok now. I'm holding back on 416 though for a while.
Curiously enough, i've come across another weird bug, however.. this one I suspect is because after I completed the game a few times I decided to mess around with it using trainers, so I think this one is my fault:
I'm something of a packrat so I've been using a trainer to enable infinite inventory however, even with it disabled i've noticed that if I now drop items onto the ground or create a new spell when I exit the game and load that save my custom spell and items dropped on the ground will have vanished.
As a funny addition (bug) I just decided to go postal at arcane university, I got expelled but inside of the university grounds, so I can't actually leave.

Do you happen to have Shivering Isles? Because that sounds an awful lot like this nasty bug, which you need to patch to 0416 to fix. Some user mods can cause the same problem, but it's usually Shivering Isles at fault.

Yeah, I have all the addons including Shivering Isles. So, it's not my fault for using an infinite inventory trainer then? Damn.
EDIT: Yeah, looks to be that bug.. quoting from the url...
* "The primary symptom of the bug is the disappearance of dropped items when reloading a save."
* "Odd behaviour of Imperial City merchants and other NPCs is common (i.e., merchants following you in stores as if you were a thief"
Damnit, looks like i'll have to begin from the start.. it took me ages to level up my current character and get as far as I currently am. How bloody annoying.
I just reinstalled the Shivering Isles 1.2.0416 patch and noticed I was moving slowly again, so I moved my joypad controller and it moved normal speed using that. Is there anyway to disable the joypad under Oblivion?
EDIT2: I just found the setting "bUse Joystick=1" and changed it to 0 in Oblivion.ini, hopefully that will solve my slow movement problems.

Actually you don't have to start over after installing the 0416 patch. Anything you lost, however, is gone for good.

I wish, the custom spells I created are still being lost after reloading. So, it looks like that 201 bug partly messed up my saves.
