I've been watning to get a car here because it's impossible to get around without one. I live in a different country, so I will be buying used and selling it when I leave. I want something cheap, but also something awesome.
I guess something along the lines of a civic, but are there any sedans/hatchbacks that looks as downright amazing as this http://cars.ign.com/articles/603/603623p1.html that would be in my budget?

i know i obviously can't get a car like the one in the OP which isn't even in production- I just want an awesome inespensive hatchback.

I found a 2003 Ford Focus hatchback for $6400 on craigslist. It's pretty nice.

Ford has made millions of them, so deals abound.

Get a civic. If you keep up on the oil changes and follow the maitenance guide (Timing belt, brakes, etc etc etc) it will last you through college. Get one with under 150k miles on it. If you can get one that someones just swapped a new motor into, even better. But civic engines, generally, if taken care of will go up to about 300k. Theyll be some minor replacements here and there, but most likely no "Oh my fucking god, 1500 dollars to fix this!?!?" moments.
