Use of 3d scanning in GameDev
I came across information, that 3d scanning technology is used to make visual effects for movies. Like this
Russian guys did while shooting August. Eight.
I'd like to find examples of using same technology in game development, and it's advantages. As according to what I know about 3d scanning, the result needs tons of post-processing work, and i'm not sure, that it worth it.

"Photogrammetry" is a term that typically comes up in regards to creating 3D models from scanning physical objects. Star Wars: Battlefront 1 made particular use of photogrammetry for its models. Here's an extremely detailed GDC talk the devs gave on the topic: https://www.gdcvault.com/play/1023272/Photogrammetry-and-Star-Wars-Battlefront
