What an amazing Novel. I love how it turns over the world as we look at it, and turns it into something heinous and awful. Amazing.

I have to be honest... I really didnt like it.

I get it, I just didnt think it was as clever as it thougt it was. It read like it was written by a kid who's just watched Fight Club and had way too many Eminem posters on his wall.

I got that "trying so desperately hard to be edgy and cool" feel that turned me off. I thought that elements of it were ok, but overall - it just made me wince.

Did you... did you read the last page?

I honestly think it's the most obnoxious thing I've read from Millar, and I'm an Ultimates fan.

Having said that, the scene where we see "the cape" was a powerful little moment. The rest of it just struck me as a juvenile, masturbatory, nasty little piece of work. I mean, it's really, really hard to not get the impression that the writer was just scripting his own ugly little fantasies.

Sorry if I'm coming off just as crass, but I've read very few books that have left as bad a taste in my mouth as Wanted.

I hear that there is a movie coming. I fear the hordes of people that might think this kind of thing is still clever.

That whole book is Millar begging Hollywood to pay attention to him. Like a little kid who says "mom" 15 times in a row for attention

Well, Ellis and Vaughan are both getting screenwriting gigs. I guess he feels left out.

Man, what a piece of shit. I never read through to completion until I perused through the rest in a shop. Basically, it all boils down to:
THIS MY FACE WHEN I'M FUCKING YOU IN THE ASS

    It's Eminem superhero crossover fanfiction.

Amazing yet ultimately stomach turning.. It turns over the world as we look at it, and shows you how we allow ourselves to be fucked in the ass.

Really I thought it was very realistic. In fact the most realistic comic book ever. Except for the part where they said that they stopped Jesus from coming back. Basically if there were as many super villians and super heroes as in the Marvel or in the DC universe with the powers they have they would have done what Millar had them do a long time ago.

And if you want a power trip, which is what comic books are ultimately, then you might as well be realistic about it.

I mean let me tell you if I had super powers the first thing I would is rip some ones arms and legs off. And tongue.

But it was definitely a challenging story.

Best line "Just because you own a big flat screen tv doesn't mean you're free" or something to that extent. So true.

I loved the art, and hated pretty much everything else. I am really worried and disgusted that so many people like this slime. It was definitely the most juvenile work I have ever seen in comic book form.

I don't know, it seems pretty much universally hated here.

I actually liked it, but not because I thought it was deep or anything, because it isn't. But because it was a juvenile, masturbatory, nasty piece of work, and every now and then a book like that feels good.

See, I got Preacher for that. Preacher was a Garth Ennis wank-fest, but it least it was a quality wankfest.

Wanted felt like watching Millar jerk off screaming how cool he is while watching german shit porn.

I liked that for a brief moment, the villains all paused, realizing that things were really good the way they were, and that they would miss some of it.

I enjoyed it just for the fact that you don't get very many stories where the villians win like that. Sure the last page pissed me off personally, but that was the whole point of that page. Whether you feel it should or shouldn't have been in the book is beside the point, because it worked - it pissed everyone off all over what some no-name character's view of the world is. Woo.

Whoever said on this board that Millar only writes villians is so dead on the money. It's just a shame that he was the one tapped to write a big Hero vs Hero event...

Well, you know, it was technically the heroic villains who won at the end by averting the more villainous villains' evil plan.

I think the last page should've been a strong reminder that there are no 'heroic' villians. Returning to the status quo was great for them, but we're still being fucked in the ass.

I'm pretty sure Millar didn't mean to imply that we were any less fucked before the villains took power. He's speaking directly to us about our lives, and his statements are supposed to ring true despite the fact that there are no real super-villains.

I'll admit that the last few pages in the book did make me mad. The Last one specifically. But, I just the concept of the book was cool, and it had some pretty amazing art.
